Awkward Kid Explains Oil Taxes

Totally confused by Prop 1 on Tuesday’s ballot, or just want to see an awkward kid totally own the oil companies. Either way, here’s a coffee break treat!

We love this kid. And this video (especially the sign part). The oil companies have spent millions of dollars to confuse you, and make you think it’s all just sooooo complicated.

It’s actually not that hard to figure this whole thing out. This kid sure did.

The numbers are close, Alaskans. And to keep from sending our treasury to big fancy glass offices in Houston, and London, we need to do one thing. VOTE.

This is a midterm primary election. Nobody ever votes in those. So each vote you make has superpowers of mega-strength. It’s not legal to vote lots of times, but this is as close as you’ll get because every vote will count A LOT!

Mention is made here-and-there of the big oil companies sending their profits out of state to their “big fancy glass offices in Houston”.

As I watched the video, I wondered if Alaskans might be curious to see how some of that profit is now being spent down here in Texas by ExxonMobil.

ExxonMobil is halfway through construction of a massive complex of new buildings on 345 acres about 20 miles north of downtown Houston. The plan is to consolidate employees there from its many offices around Houston, the state, and the nation; it will be one giant corporate city of about 10,000 workers when it opens next year. Here’s one link just of photos: http://www.chron.com/news/gallery/Exxon-Mobil-039-s-new-campus-60749.php

If you want to research more on this, just Google “ExxonMobil new complex”.

I haven’t found any mention anywhere with regard to how much Exxon is spending on this “town” or what fractional amount this new development will cost compared to its corporate profits overall. However, it appears to me that some of your Alaskan oil just might be funding this ginormous Texas version of Silicon Valley. But who really knows, as rich as ExxonMobil already is, since a billion here-or-there is just chump change to this company.

However, to me, it seems like just another reason to protect Alaskan oil profits for Alaskans rather than shipping profits out-of-state to support the building of a new Silicon Valley in Texas.

When Alaskans vote on Prop 1, I hope they will try to remember this complex of big fancy new office buildings in Texas and decide to vote for Alaska and Alaskans, and for not the oil barons of today.

I don’t want to hear any more crap about the youth-of-today when we have young folks like this stepping up.

I always, always, always vote the mid terms- I’ll be there first thing tomorrow and I’m voting to repeal the giveaway!
