Open Thread – Obey the Turtle!

Whenever Lisa Murkowski did something against the interest of the state and the nation just to toe the party line and appease leadership, my classic explanation to anyone who brought it to my attention was, “Obey the Turtle.”  It usually took some explanation, but eventually they understood.   But flyinureye nailed it, and we never even had the conversation!

Open Thread – Lost in Translation

Every once in a while, I’ll be treated to a little present in my in-box that just makes me smile.  An alert popped up for “Mudflats blog” on Google.  And I clicked. It was a story written about the email that fell into my hands from Todd Palin to Joe Miller.  Remember? When Todd had an ALL CAPS meltdown because Joe Miller wouldn’t jump up and down talking about how super qualified his wife is to be President of the United States?  Not endorsing Palin for President is about the closest thing to a sane and rational decision that Miller made…

Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear – Photo Album from D.C.

Despite my best efforts to report from the event, anything requiring wireless communication pretty much wasn’t working. But here are some pictures from my trip to D.C. for the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. So far estimates put the crowd at 215,000. All I can tell you is that there were a LOT of people, and everyone was in a great mood. No screaming, no anger, just fun and congeniality. And Mudflatters wrapped up the day by gathering for a Mudstock meetup! Sanity stock was wonderful and all sorts of yummy goodness was provided by Fawnskin and Mr. Fawnskin….

Joe Miller: Alaska’s Craziest Catch — Help Get This On the Air!

Republican candidate for US Senate, Joe Miller, burned-up the airwaves before the primary saying that cutting-off federal funds to Alaska is his highest priority as Senator. Now, he’s trying to backtrack just a few short weeks later. We’re not going to let that happen. We at Mudflats are excited to see the first video spot come out of the Netroots for the 2010 election cycle. Blue America PAC and AmericansforAmericaPAC.com, two cutting edge Netroots political action committees, are launching a daily video campaign targeting GOP/Tea Party candidates every day from today through Election Day, November 2. We’re especially pleased that the first…

Open Thread – Netroots Eve

Twas the night before Netroots… And the packing is not yet complete.  But I remembered back to a strange tale that I never did share from last year… (everything goes all blurry and you hear harp music) It’s the last day of Netroots Nation 2009 in Pittsburgh. It’s been a fabulous time, and I’ve met so many Mudflatters face to face for the first time. We’ve had an outstanding Mudstock Meetup, and everything is starting to wind down.  Brian the Moose whom I brought with me on the trip has had his photo taken with many notables including politicos and…

Parents Revolt – Too Angry to Scrapbook!

OK wingnut moms and dads across the nation. Here’s a final word to convince you that you’re doing the right thing by keeping your kids out of school to protest the president telling them to stay in school. Yeah…that’ll show ’em! This spoof is quite hilarious.

Book Wars. Palin v. Johnston – Who’s Got the Slam Dunk?

Oh boy. Vanity Fair does it again. Get ready for the latest teaser extraordinaire about life in the Palin house after the 2008 election. The world’s most infamous ex-almost-son-in-law has let loose a couple interesting little nuggets of which there promise to be more in the upcoming full article entitled “Me and Mrs. Palin.” “The Palin house was much different from what many people expect of a normal family, even before she was nominated for vice president. There wasn’t much parenting in that house. Sarah doesn’t cook, Todd doesn’t cook—the kids would do it all themselves: cook, clean, do the…

Palin’s Been Punked?

Popcorn alert!  I said yesterday that those of you who were placing wagers on whether Palin would show up at the speaking engagement that’s been announced in Hong Kong needed to make an adjustment.  Normally the going odds if you’re betting whether she’ll show are 50/50.  Maybe she will, and maybe she won’t.  Like plucking petals off a daisy…  She’s coming….she’s coming NOT. The appearance in Hong Kong will be the first time she’s actually been paid to speak, so my take was that this dramatically increased the odds that she would be speaking.   This isn’t some lowly Anchorage church…
