Oh dear. It appears that Palin is planning on a UK trip to have her photograph taken with Maggie Thatcher (who happens to be suffering from dementia).

Quote
Any trip by Mrs Palin to Britain could cause potential problems for David Cameron.

Embarrassingly, Mrs Palin’s team have not contacted No 10 so far.

One individual involved in the talks about the visit said: ‘Palin’s people haven’t said anything about meeting Cameron. Their main interest is getting a picture of her with Lady Thatcher. I’m not sure they know who David Cameron is.’

It would also pose a delicate diplomatic protocol dilemma for the Prime Minister, who is trying to defuse an acrimonious confrontation with Mr Obama over the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

That's hysterical.

If she wants a pic with Lady Thatcher she should go get one at Madame Tussauds and leave the poor woman alone.  I am not a Thatcher fan, but even I wouldn't foist SP on her.  Sad

Hey Sarah, Lady Thatcher, David Cameron etc.  -- they're elites.  Just listen to the way they talk; hoity toity and in sentences.

I did a double take when I saw this.  It can't be true.....

I agree with Forty.  This is definitely in the realm of abusing those with Alzheimers.

Wink Can't wait to see how Cameron plays it.... or will he leave it to Nick?

I agree. I have never liked Maggie Thatcher, but this is abuse. I can't understand how her family agreed to it. ($$$$$$$).

When I get a date for her trip, I am booking a flight to London. I hope Ryanair still has those cheap flights. I plan to demonstrate.  reindeer

The more I think about this the angrier I become.

If indeed this is to happen, who is in charge of Baroness Thatcher's affairs?  Why would they think it appropriate to link her with the likes of Palin?  Is money changing hands and, if so, into whose pocket is it going?

I fear the influence of the highly suspect son.  For those not aquainted with some of the exploits of son Mark, here's a titbit from 2005 --

Quote
Sir Mark Thatcher has left South Africa after pleading guilty over his involvement in an alleged coup plot in Equatorial Guinea.

The son of former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was fined the equivalent of US$500,000 (£265,000) and given a four-year suspended jail term.

Sir Mark, who denies any knowledge of the plot, agreed a plea bargain and will now co-operate with investigators.

There's more.  Angry

OK, correct me if I am wrong here  Huh? but if Ms. Thatcher has Demencia and Sarah meets with her and has to repeat everything she says over and over again..........isn't it kind of a wash? Palin gives the same exact speech over and over again, so Thatcher won't remember it........Sarah repeats speech.......and around and around they go.

So.....effectively, Palin has the perfect captive audience, correct?
 Wink
Then Sarah can tweet and Facebook all of her 'bots and brag about how great the "meeting" went, right?

In her prime, Thatcher would have eaten Palin alive, and most other people. To allow Palin near her now when her mind is totally scrambled is quite obscene. It speaks volumes for the so-called carers looking after Thatcher that they have allowed this. Whatever your views on the former "Iron lady" she doesn't deserve this cruelty.

Remember, SWMNBN believes in Glossolalia. If Thatcher spouts dementia at her, Palin will probably think it is a message from God. One can only hope that Maggie would tell her to quit being a vuvuzela and start hiding in a grocery bag.

Remember, SWMNBN believes in Glossolalia...
*emphasis mine*

I had to look that up, and thought others might also need to check the definition:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossolalia
Quote
Glossolalia or speaking in tongues is the fluid vocalizing (or, less commonly, the writing) of speech-like syllables, often as part of religious practice. Though some consider these utterances to be meaningless, others consider them to be part of a holy language.

 LOL

I do have to say, for the last few years I have spent a lot of time in a nursing home where everyone is suffering from dementia, some very profoundly.  Once you get the gist of where they think they are at that moment, to whom their conversation is directed and a little of what it might be about, they often make a lot more sense than Sarah Palin.  And they're always 100 times more interesting.

I spent 10 years as a Certified Nurses Aid specializing in the care of elderly stroke patients with dementia, sometimes from the stroke and sometimes from alzheimer's. I am very familiar with making dementia-speak work. In many cases it is much less stressful to just go with demented persons reality, rather than try to bring them back to a more ordinary reality.  Lucid moments can be startling and amusing.

It would be classic if Mrs. Thatcher had a lucid moment during her meeting with SWMNBN, and just slapped her.  LOL

And you know from your experience it could happen!  Fingers crossed.  Wink

I know I shouldn't go OT, but I just can't resist telling about a great *lucid moment.*

The nursing home is in Scotland and the residents were having a "Scottish" night with bagpipes and the whole bit and piece.  You need to read this with a Scottish accent.

When one of the women was offered a wee whisky she asked: "Can I hae some lemonade wi' my whisky?"

There was a woman in the corner, head on her chest, whom I'd never heard utter a word. She sprang to attention, glared at the first woman and bellowed: "LEMONADE!  Wha' do you think you are, hen?  ENGLISH?!"

Maybe Maggie will do something similar.  "What do you think your are, darling?  Intelligent?"  Fill in your own adjective.  Wink

I love it!!! can’t wait for the British media to go after her. meanwhile, i say we pups write a letter to ‘Her British Majesty the Queen of England to warn her of sarah’s pending visit so she can call out the Coldstream Guards, flood the moat, lift the drawbridge, dust off the cannon, hide the crown jewels and flee the country.

so....
Dear Queen,
Bubbles here. waving hello from the United States. i am writing to warn you of pending disaster, other than the BP oil deluge occurring in our Gulf of Mexico. Majesty, it has come to my attention that Sarah Heath Palin is planning a visit to your fair shores (so far). Please dear Queen you must use all your powers to prevent that occurrence. thus far your country has endured and overcome Bubonic Plague, the War of the Roses, the Hundred Years War, World War One, World War Two and Fergie. I don't believe Merry Old England can or should have to endure this menace to society otherwise known as Sarah Heath Palin and Tawd. Trust me on this Your most high Highness. Call MI5,  :PMI6 and the British troops to defend Queen and Country from this despicable, tawdry, asinine, hateful woman and Tawd. May God bless your Majesty and keep your realm safe from all harm....sincerely
