Have been lurking for several weeks, but thought it was time to say Hi.
Great blog, gives a good insight into the machinations of American politics for us Brits. I really feel for you having Palin becoming even more cringe-making every times she opens her mouth - those interviews! I had been telling my husband about it and I don't think he has realised how inexperienced/out of her depth she was until he heard her speak.
Most Brits couldn't believe that GWB could be elected as he was such an idiot, but it seems that many want to repeat that mistake, possibly make it worse by seeing McCain/Palin in the White House (aaarrrgghh!).
We do keep an eye on what happens in the US as it does affect our economy/foreign affairs in a dramatic way.
Oh, one further thing, if Obmama doesn't win, could we have him instead - an intellectual running our highest political office, that would be fantastic.
Best wishes, watching today's turn of events with great interest/trepidation

Good Morning from NJ, Chin Trout from England! How fun to wake up and see my Mudflats'/Alaskan name (I hate to call it my Palin name- I don't want to associate myself w/ her!) Gosh, Obama better win in November or my family and I might be moving to England!
Like so many others in MudflatsLand, I'm "hooked" (ouch, not a good word for a trout!) -- The posts here are intelligent and informative. Thanks, AKM and Snoksred!
It's rainy here today and I'm off work-- I'll be checking in throughout the day!

You're more than welcome to join us, though our politicians aren't much better at times! They're a bit more boring, your jaw rarely hits the floor listening to them as it does with Palin and Bus (you just nod off - a more subtle tactic?), I feel your pain.
Have a good day off and I hope the debate happens tonight.

Hello there Chin Trout.
Welcome to this wonderful place.
I feel really hopeful about the election since I have been making regular visits to this haven of (almost) sanity.
I am an English ex-pat living in Germany.
Obama is a very popular geezer here.
I loved the way he introduced the Spain thing into the debate last night. It was such fantastic timing.
See you around.
