Greetings from Anchorage -- and a big thanks to Mudflats for the ongoing commentary, analysis, and information!

I've lived in southcentral Alaska since August 2007. Previously I called Florida home, but have since traded my gators for moose (though I don't typically eat gatorburgers or mooseburgers).  It's been a hell of a thing, this election -- and I must say, I really wasn't expecting the national attention here in Alaska. After years of limelight in Florida (oh, the pain), it felt good to be off the radar for a little while.  But here we are again.

I'm glad to be here -- and I'm glad for the voices of reason I've heard around me in my new home region. And to Mudflats:  I'm especially happy to hear yours.

Rock on.

- Janson.

I have an confession to make..

I found the moose gallery on the Anchorage Daily News, and now I'm in love with moose..

How could anyone shoot them? I don't get it. Sad

Ah, moose!  I haven't quite gotten used to them yet.

Here's one that hung out in our neighborhood this week summer.  Too cute.

Addendum: Corrected "week" -- when I meant summer...  Derr.

 Welcome
Sorry the "suits" all landed on you!  Blame Sarah!

Seriously, this stuff is way over the top and after the lower 49 reject her, we'll help get her thrown out of Alaska...maybe she can go to Russia, after all, she can see it!

Greetings from Cecily.  Yes, we're all making tracks here in the Flats.  It's good to be wallowing in mud with such enlightened beings.  Best to you in Anchorage and enjoy the sweet celebration.

Welcome ot Alaska!!!

I'm in SE AK.  I also lived in FL for a while and boy am I glad to be back in Alaska!  Don't miss the bugs, heat, humidity, and all the people!

Don't forget:  Bears are cute -- as long as they aren't trying to eat you!

In case you can't tell by the name, they are my critter....  Getting to watch them from a safe vantage point is fantastic.  They are such powerful, graceful, smart four-leggeds and yet they can be deceptively quiet.  Had a black bear within 10 feet of me and only saw it because I turned around while it walked by!  Hadn't heard a thing.  And no, didn't have headphones on, no cell phone going, and I'm not hard of hearing!

Enjoy your time in Alaska!

Hello to all Alaskans!  I've lived here since 2001, but grew up in Southeast Alaska.  I left for college and then headed to the Bush to teach for five years before deciding I couldn't take it another minute.  I love Anchorage and Alaska, and plan to be here pretty much until the end.

Maybe someday we can have an Anchorage Mudstock!
