Which is a large part of my biography.  I am an Alaskan, born and raised.  What more do you need to know?

I presently live in Anchorage (and have since my dad was relocated here due to the mid-eighties oil crash.  It was move to Anchorage or find a new job.  We moved to Anchorage.)  I grew up along the road system, although I was nearly born in the air between Fire Island and Anchorage.

I grew up in a political household - we voted because it was our responsibility as citizens in a representative democracy.  Although I am about as far from my parents in political belief as is humanly possible, I still cherish my mother's directive that you must vote, period.  (Even though the presidential race is over by the time our ballots are counted.)

I found AKM when I was looking for more information on the rumors of Ted Stevens' impending corruption charges, but didn't comment until after McCain used our governor as a dramatic, post-DNC distraction.

 LOL

And here I was, grumbling because I've been out of touch for the past 10 days and you all started the party without me!  Kudos to AKM for the forum idea - I doubt I'll be able to keep up with the conversation any better, but at least it will be well-organized.

(And thank you for the welcome signs!  As you can see from my avatar, I like signs.  Grin)

Hi..., from Gamebird Kelp down in Soldotna.

 Welcome

Actually..., I'm glad you couldn't see me as I'm the World's Worst Dancer. (But, somehow, I just keep trying.  I'll NEVER learn!)  LOL

My Anchorage Sign

Cindy kindly represented me at the anti-Palin rally in Anchorage--a great surprise that she really did it!

My avatar is the sign that she made for me and took to the rally.  Somewhere along the line, my Palin baby name, Jeep Pike, has gotten lost.

It was great to know that I, too, was represented.  Thank you again, Cindy.

Aw, you are all too kind.  And Molly's Mom, I am happy to round out the group.  Fitting, as I am rather well-rounded myself!

Thank you all.

Now to see about some not-all-about-me content ...

 Wink  and  Welcome

Too bad you're not in Juneau.  I was proposing that we'd make you your own special 31000 sign for the October 11 event if you were here (though it looks like you could give all of us down here some signmaking tips...).  Though if you do come down to Juneau for it, let us know and we'll do something special for you!

In any case, welcome aboard from #990

There are days I wish I WAS in Juneau.  And my mad stenciling skills owe much to freezer paper, an Xacto blade, and temporary spray adhesive (quilt basting spray works well.)   Cool

I'm idly looking over the PFD fares, but we're in savings mode at this house ATM, so I'm also not holding my breath.  I'd love to join you all - I don't know how realistic it is.  I've let a Sitka-based friend of mine know what you all are up to.  :-)  I'll be with you in spirit if I can't make it in person.
