Hi Everyone!
Greetings from the Mountain State!
Just wanted to let you all know that you have done an excellent job in getting the truth out about Sarah Palin. I was interested to see just what kind of woman McStupid had picked and in googling found your blog and forum. Turns out that the Governor is not at all what I had expected -- indeed much worse.
Truthfully, I would love to have a woman in one of the highest offices in the land but after doing my own vet check, I found SP deficient in all categories. I cannot believe she actually won the governorship in Alaska! What in the H. E. double hockey sticks were the people thinking up there about her then that allowed that to happen?!
I am a Clinton Democrat and was upset at the way I perceived the DNC had treated HRC's candidacy. After Obama won, I had decided not to vote for Prez at all (first time in 32 years) and it was not until McCain picked SP as his running mate that I decided that I HAD to vote for Obama as I cannot cut off my nose to spite my face.
As to SP, I watched with horror at her interview with Gibson; cringed during Couric; and was disgusted throughout the debate. While I am no means an elitist nor attended an Ivy League university, I am infinitely more knowledgeable about world politics than SP having graduated from a Jesuit university, keep abreast of the news from reading many newspapers and blogs online and attending law school.
In addition, I can see Ohio from my kitchen window...
Keep up the great work!

Hey there West Virginia! You have a beautiful state! Welcome to the forum!
Since you can see Ohio from your kitchen window and you like the law, you can be the Attorney General, OK? Or would you prefer being the Ambassador of the UN - after all, Ohio is a foreign country, right?

Actually my hubby said the same thing although he elevated me to governor.

Hello Neighbor and Welcome!
It's good to see you here. I need help ranting and raving when someone calls that VP-Imposter from Alaska a hillbilly.

Never heard a hillbilly say, "You betcha" or wink at a tv audience. A hillbilly never lies directly or by omission unless it involves hunting out of season. And my mother always told me that if you're going to say "doggone" you might as well just use the words intended as a bona fide hillbilly would, therefore she cannot be a hillbilly unless, of course, she has one leg shorter than the other so as to stand straight and tall on the side of a mountain...

I've been known to lie about moonshine, but it's a long long story involving Bing cherries and body parts of damn Yankees.

You guys ever been to the fairs in Lewisburg? I used to love the horse pulls there when I was a kid.

Won an all-around 4-H Equestrian Championship there when I was 16. Lovely area of the state.

Chef Boy 'R Mine was working at the Greenbrier (huge hoity toity resort), so I was in Lewisburg relatively often. It is beautiful. But the Monongahela National Forest in Pocahontas Co. iis my favorite spot on the planet.

I have spent a lot of time in the Monongahela, the George Washington, and the Thomas Jefferson National Forests. I consider Pochoantas, Bath, Highland, Alleghany, Greenbriar, Summers, Monroe, Craig, Giles, Floyd, and Montgomery counties in VA and WV to be my home. I miss them hills so very much.

There's a saying here:
There are two kinds of people who leave these hills: those who leave and come back and those who want to.
I'm not a native. My family are not natives. We discovered these hills when I was 14 and it was like a thunderbolt from heaven for all of us. My brother and I left for a bit, but came back as soon as we could. My son left and managed 2 years before he was back. I learned later, I descended from Irish/Cherokee stock that had outmigrated from Tennessee and Kentucky a few generations earlier. It might be a genetic pull.
Financially, I'd be so much better off elsewhere, but after a combined 35 years here, my jaw still drops at the beauty on my commute to work. No matter how many times I stand in the Williams River, my spirit soars each time. I like going to New York and Boston and D.C. and the Keys and London and Mexico, but when the plane lands and the hills wrap around me like a blanket on a cool night, I know I'm home.
If you do a search on youtube to "Almost Heaven" - a bunch of photo slideshows set to music come up. Some of them are very well done and guaranteed to make you homesick.

Daughter came home last year...too bad she has to work for a biased Repub newspaper magnate. At least she's back in the Mountain State.
