You will be given a brief insight into what happens in the Moderation area when you report a post in this how to guide.

The moderation and administration team need the assistance of the board members to moderate the board effectively. We ask that if you see something that violates the rules of the forum - or that you think may violate the rules, that you report it to us.

So how do you report a post?

In the body of each post you will see the following - Click on report to moderator

You will be taken to a screen where you enter in why you're reporting the post. Please be specific as to why you are reporting the post. We don't need a novel, just a few short words is enough - if we're unclear on what you mean you'll receive a private message from the moderators asking you to clarify what the problem is.

Two things happen that only moderators and administrators see once a post is reported -

After a post has been reported the mod/admin team will see that it has "reported" in red text within the post.

The post also appears in the reported posts forum in the moderators lounge exactly as it appeared when it was reported - the user can edit it but it will not change what we see in the reported post forum.

Having the forum makes it easier for moderators to spot the problems that are reported to us by members, and easier for moderators to deal with issues.

You can see that there are two icons in the reported posts forum - unresolved, and resolved.

When the issue is resolved, the reported text within the post changes to green after the moderators press a button.. so there is always a record that the post was reported and resolved.

Depending on how busy the administrators are, they will try to get back to the reporting user with a note to let you know the outcome, if possible.

I'm just bumping this - if you don't know how to report a post please read the above post and -

NEVER, EVER, hesitate to report something to us.

we would prefer to have a report and investigate it and it turns out to be nothing than nobody reports something suspicious and we don't spot it ourselves. We are very appreciative of your assistance in reporting posts.  Smiley

We do usually get back to you to let you know how things turned out when you report a post.
