from Vermont too and also from Eastern Europe; l lived there for 28 years in an x communist country, right next to what once was the Soviet Union; unlike Palin I'd been to Russia, Latvia, Ukraine  Grin I registered to vote right after my citizenship ceremony and taking my pledge of allegiance; looking forward to cast my first vote in the national election  Smiley Voted for Hillary in the primary and don't hesitate to support Obama next ! I like his wife a lot....she's an amazing human being and she'll make for a very thoughtful and carrying first lady. Once i left my country of birth i never thought i'll end up being so carried away by politics in my adoptive country...but here i am all fired up and ready to vote.  America and my child deserve better !  Smiley

WAAAAY back when, I went to St Michael's College in Winooski before I was forced to transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh because Mr Reagan cut most Guaranteed Student Loans.  (Unlike Governor Moosebrains, I got my 4 years degree at 2 schools...not 6 schools over how many years...?)

I absolutely loved my time I spent up there.  I used to climb/hike Mt Mansfield all the time.  I cast my first Presidential Vote there in 1980 for Jimmy Carter as a card carrying member of the Socialist Party!

Hi Charcoal and others -
I am in VT as well - down here in Windsor county.  Flatlander by birth but Vermonter by choice for the last 9 years.  I hope never to have to live anywhere else.  I was a little disturbed by Vermont This Week on VPTV tonight.  I had no idea that AIG owned Stowe and now the feds own it.  Don't think we can afford to lose that growth as a state.  Anyway - hi from the  SE corner of the state.

thank you ! politics wasn't better in my birth country; well it seems people are skeptical about the political atmosphere no matter what country you come from; what i found very interesting in this particular election is the kind of inspirational message that obama campaign put out and i absolutely love the way it rallied people with similar views around it ! that's so far like nothing i've seen before ! grassroots efforts bring the best in people  Cool a president elected by the people and for the people, that's what i want out of this election !

why do they keep saying that reagan was such a great president ? i heard from a professor he wrecked havoc in education...cut funding to state universities and whole programs where consequently wiped out ! is that true ? someone really wants us ignorant ?

he (Reagan) is who really started the path to de-regulation (a core value for republicans) that is causing the mess we are in now economically.

Hello Vermont,

My daughter lives in Vermont--Wilder, doing her residency at Dartmouth.  She just had a rotation over there in Burlington and loved it!  Good to see you over here in the forum!

I know we had more Vermont people on the blog, because it had for some reason fascinated me.  I hope people will check in here, as they become forum members (cause it makes me happy that so many people from Vermont had found mudflats too).

 I Need Coffee!
Good Morning, fellow Vermonters from the more SouthEast corner of the state: Windham County, Marlboro specifically.
I spent all my childhood summers at my aunt and uncle's farm/school near here. Traveled and lived many many places (including Wasilla!) and returned to Vermont some 25 years ago and hope to never ever live anywhere else. Nova Scotia would be an option if the wrong party gets in again.... but then there is a secessionist movement in Vermont...

Off to work,
Callie (Beans Harpoon Palin)

Hey Callie - Did you know Harold Makepeace in Marlboro?  I suppose everyone knew the Spiral Shop. I felt so bad hearing that he had to give it up.  I have a few Orchid Cactus I grew from cuttings I got from him.  I did not know him well - only stopped there a couple of times - but thought he had created a lovely place.

RE: Harold Makepeace in Marlboro.
Yes, the place sits empty; I don't know about the outdoor plants. He is in the Veteran's Home in Bennington. A sparkling and naughty figure of a man!
