Decided to speak up, finally... Different, huh?    Glad to be here.

Haven't had much chance today to explore The Flats... the laundry was calling since I've been so obsessed/addicted to Mudflats these last couple weeks.  And I've been trying to find my way around Wordpress for my own blog.

Woman "of a certain age," California native. I was fortunate to find Mudflats within a day or possibly two of Palin's selection.   Kids - 2 of mine, 2 DILs, plus Nighthawk's 2; no grands.   Dogs - 1, cats - 2. 

Interests:  politics, current events, intelligent conversation with friends and family, plus food, wine, books, music, travel, photography, needlepoint (at least pre-Mudflats) 

Career(s): mother, volunteer, teacher, records and documents manager, Internet publishing, now retired but serious Mudflats addict and would-be writer... 

Educational background: college degree in history, elem, ed. credential, grad work in Middle East studies

Currently live in Palmdale, CA, but have lived in several other places in CA plus NM and NV.

Actually I am new here from Victorville, California who is grateful to have stumbled upon Mudflat after having run across blogs where there are people who have the same mentality as McCain and Palin where they tell themselves and everybody else lies and they believe them. I was losing it and thanks to you sane bloggers I know that I can keep my sanity and that we definitely have a lot intelligent people here in America that can combat the micro mental midgets. Thank you guys for being here.

Nice to know there's another small blue glimmer up in the AV (I'm assuming VV considers itself part of the AV).  Sometimes it feels pretty lonely.   

I know what you're saying about Mudflats being the spot of sanity.  It's also very comforting to find other intelligent people who are willing AND ABLE to engage in intelligent conversation and manage to be respectful of each other as well.
