As another way of introducing ourselves, here's a thread to list your top three....well, anything!  Here are some suggestions (but I'm sure you can come up with others):

My Top Three....

  • Favorite.....movies, songs, actors, books, sports, politicians, desserts, jobs...
  • Things I'm really good at doing
  • Things I'd like to learn
  • Hobbies
  • Cars I've owned
  • Places where I've lived the longest
  • Questions I've always wanted answered
  • Scariest experiences
  • Most embarrassing moments

Post as many threesomes as you'd like!

Three Cars I've owned:

1973 Malibu with a 454 engine: the first car I bought by myself, it could pass anything but a gas station

1979 Chevette: I went from the Malibu to the Chevette!  Gas Crisis!

1999 Lexus Rx300: simply the best car I've ever owned -- too bad it was stolen.  When the Insurance Adjuster called and told me they'd found it, she asked if I wanted it back... it only had 5 bullet holes in it. I told her no I thought not.  Later a friend told me that bullet holes only add to your street cred and that there was a body shop in KCMO that was doing custom bullet holes in cars.  All I can say is "Wow."

1.  ALASKA!!!:  Jumped to the top of the list after meeting mudpuppies.

2.  Tibet:  One of the countries I've always wanted to visit...for the history, the customs, the religions, the people.

3.  Provence:  Food!

I hope this becomes a popular thread. It's so nice to get to know everyone in a more personal way.
Here's 3 things from my personal life.

1. I have 4 daughters (one is step, which matters naught), and 5 grandkids.
2. I'm the second child of nine.
3. I'm a hooker.  Shocked ... of rugs. (I braid too)

Newport is so BEAUTIFUL. My youngest daughter went to school at Salve. I fell in love with the place.

I'm biting the bullet here....and trusting y'all not to spread it around...

My 3 most embarrassing moments during business meetings:

1.  I was at a cocktail party...given in my honour because I'd just won the highest annual award from the corporation where I worked.  It was an award for Excellence, and all the corporate bigwigs were there to celebrate.  Very fancy, black tie event.  I wore a silk evening dress with some beading...very nice, all in ivory.

Went to the bar and got myself a fancy drink to celebrate...it was orangy and red with cherries and umbrellas.  Glass in hand, I looked around, thinking maybe I should do some "mingling".  Saw the C's (CEO, CFO, CIO, COO, you know, the C's) chatting together and decided I'd go and join in.

I walked towards them, turning this way and that, smiling and nodding at the nice people who were congratulating me....then....BAM!!!  There was a plate glass floor to ceiling window between me and the C's.

Didn't shatter the glass ceiling....but sure as heck shattered the glass wall.  Never did get all those orange and red stains off my beautiful dress either.  Luckily the double black eyes went away after a few days.

2.  A business meeting...an important one....and I didn't want to be late.  Had to look my best, since I was going to be making a presentation on stage.  Had my breakfast with me in the car and sipped the coffee while rehearsing the speech in my mind.  Then....yup.....one slam on the brakes, and the coffee was all over my suit.

Noticed that I was near a shopping center....so drove in, parked and ran to Macy's.  In   "Women's Career Styles", I zipped through the racks, found something my size in black and ran to the dressing room to change.  Ran out, paid for the new suit, and got to the meeting just in time.

It wasn't until after lunch with the clients, when I was on my way back to the office, that I noticed I was sitting on something hard and bulky.  It was the anti-theft thingy that they'd forgotten to take off the skirt.  I'd been walking around on stage, mingling with important clients over lunch....all the while with that big, beige, plastic thing stuck to the back of my black skirt.  Sigh.

3.  At another lunch with important clients....at a new, chic, French restaurant....I excused myself to go to the Ladies' Room.  When I came out, noticed quite a few eyes following me as I walked back to the table.  "Must be looking good," I thought to myself.

Then I noticed, just when I was sitting down, that I'd left a trail of loo paper all the way back to the Ladies' Room.  The paper had stuck to the sole of my shoe and just rolled with me all the way.

There's more, but I'm giving myself a rest.

Some memories.....just hurt, ya know?

I love the good wolf/bad wolf story!  Used it in a Middle School class I taught....and it really helped the kids to grasp the idea....now they go around saying, "Which wolf are you feeding, man?"

From Flora Thompson's "Lark Rise to Candleford" "A little later, remembering man's earthly origin, "dust thou art and to dust thou shalt return," they liked to fancy themselves bubbles of earth. When alone in the fields, with no one to see them, they would hop, skip, and jump, touching the ground as lightly as possible... and crying, "We are bubbles of earth! Bubbles of earth! Bubbles of Earth!" "
