Hi Everyone,

This has been a very nutty week. I've been very busy organizing a Fire Outreach in my community that has consumed much of my time. This is the first time I've even been able to login in a few days. That is how crazy things are.

I'm not sure I can make the Socal Mudstock Meet-up although I would absolutely love to. I'm pretty much booked up every weekend between now and Christmas.

But please keep me in the loop and if I can sneak away on the 12/7 I most certainly will.

Edited to say:
I think AKM has a typo of the front page. She has the date as  Sunday, 12/4. that threw me for a loop for a minute. I was wondering which year you were planning to meet? Smiley

aw, ocliberal, i'm disappointed that you'll not be able to come.

i'd been thinking that we could/might make this mudstock a "bring a toy" for the fire victims type thing, given the title of our meet.

what do the rest of you think? if oc needs toys for her fire outreach project, might we pitch in?

Am I the only one living near Palm Springs?  I would drive to San Diego or L.A. to meet up since I know there are probably very few out in my world. Smiley

Bringing something for the fire victims would be nice.  Teri and I took a drive through the burn area yesterday.  I've experienced four serious fires in this area since '64 and there are just no words to describe them.  It's very humbling.  It always reminds me that in a way we are infringing on nature.  We co-habitat with something that has natural conditions, like fires and storms and earthquakes.

Oh well...I need to get to work.  Are we going to be sent directions to Mudstock IV?

Love and Light to all

scott, could you find out if the fire dept in santa barbara is sponsoring a toy campaign for the fire victims. i know they do a toys for tots but it would be nice if we could do something especially for the families affected by the fires.

i don't know if ocliberal needs our help more so let's see what develops. she lives in yorba linda and might know some of the folks affected by those fires.

fawnskin hussein mudpupp,

Yup, it is now a plan.  When I first wrote, I didn't see that the location had been established. I now see the meet-up is in W.LA.  So, I will try to get there.

I have since introduced myself, added a location and a cute photo on my profile.(I have no clue who this baby would be, but what a cute photo.)

So, I think I am good to go once I receive details on how to get where we will be meeting.  Party!

Thanks fawnskin hussein mudpuppy,

Our Red Cross Assistance center for the Tea Fire victims is located about a block from my work.  I just walked over there.

Walking back I started thinking...the area of the fire is a fairly affluent area, and I was thinking that victims of some of the other fires might need more help.  Maybe we could all make a $$ donation to the Red Cross.  I think having a donation basket at the party where everyone can chip in would be a good idea and the Red Cross can use the $$ where it's needed the most.  What do you think?

i like your plan, scott.

but i want to hear from ocliberal about her work in yorba linda. i know she must be quite busy today but she'll probably be checking in.

if there's a chance that she has definative needs in her community, then it would be nice if we support our own mudpuppy's outreach.

anybody else have an opinion on this?

Red Cross donations usually go into a general fund, although separate purpose funds can be set up as well.  If you want to reach a specific community, look to local relief efforts and see what they need.  That way, whatever you contribute will go directly to those who need it most.

The Red Cross does great work, but I'd be in favor of something that was focused more locally.

PS: Fawnskin, I sent you a PM, don't know if you saw it...

well, alex, i'm not so sure that moose shirts are seen too often in los angeles. perhaps you should hold off unless you can tie them into mudflats somehow.

A new SoCal Mudpup contacted me today about the meetup.  Hopefully WakeUpAmerica will be posting on this thread and on the Intro one.

I've been gone all day, and I think the idea of toys for the fire area is a great one.  Count us (me and Nighthawk) in. I Agree

@fawnskin...
You mentioned wanting an egg casserole.  I'd be glad to bring one that I've renamed "Maverick Puff of Hot Air."  Devil And still count me in for the Moose Nuggets I mentioned earlier.  Just let me know.

Fellow Mudpups,

Re: donations for fire victims.  My friend, here in Santa Barbara, and her two daughters lost everything they owned in the fire.  Mady, Stephanie and Saskia are also members of my church.  I have known them for 13 hears, since the girls were little.  They are now in their 20's, so they don't need toys.  A friend who is organizing relief for them has suggested Credit Gift Cards and Sears Gift Cards.  If you would like to buy something tangible for them that would be nice too.

I am going through my apt tomorrow morning to sort out all the stuff they might want.

How would you feel about helping them, my friends? (trying not to cry here)  It makes it more personal.

Let me know, thanks.
