We've come so far, it's time to put faces to names and have our own meetup once the winds die down...
If I'm correct, there are folks from Orange Country to Santa Barbara, perhaps beyond. Let's figure out a centralized spot and start the ball rolling.
West LA area? or ???? When????

Hi all So Cal Mudflatters. I am in Van Nuys. Would love to have a meetup. also.
I guess we need to find out first where everyone is, then choose a central place.

Hi,
Scott here, from Santa Barbara. Even though I'd love for the get-together to be here, maybe Ventura or Thousand Oaks? Let me know

Whhhooooo....our own Mudstock!! Finally!
Anywhere from WLA to Ventura would work for me. Any suggestions on the type of place for our get together?
And hope everyone is safe from the fires...

Scott,
I know ocliberal is in Orange Co. I'm guessing Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills area. That's a long shag to TO. That's why I suggested WLA... Maybe as people chime in, carpooling with be an option.... Hope so. Seems we've several in the San Fernando Valley area, and we stretch as far as San Diego. Don't know if they'll be up to come even to WLA.

I am in Woodland Hills, let me know where and when - let's make Mudflats signs, maybe meet at a restaurant? Good idea to wait for smoke to clear, needless to say. Lori

There's a East Coast Mudflats group meeting up on Inaugural day in D.C. Had hoped to join them, but probably won't be able to.
Great if we could do a West Coast meet on that day too! Discuss at our meet?
Happy to rideshare with anybody coming from N. of Camarillo (Vent. Cnty).

Icy,
Why don't you send Scott a PM. He hasn't posted much on the Forum. Sounds like he didn't want to drive much farther than Ventura, so maybe you two can connect.

Gini,
Maybe Santa Monica area? I'm fine with coming down to LA. Look forward to it, maybe I'll get my "I love to play in the Mud" t-shirt before then.

I'm in... (I'm on the westside in an area I call "Baja Brentwood" -- West LA just below Brentwood blocks from the Santa Monica border)

Thanksgiving is on the 27th this year.
Weekend after?
Too much after, and we're getting into the holiday rush.
Thanks for your offer, fawnskin! I think it would be nice to be in a private setting rather than a public one. We could all bring something....it'd be a good time to test some of those Mudflats recipes!

When you guys have a date, we can send it out as a newsletter if you want.
We're putting together the list of where people are from at the moment and CA is huge, so you'll have a lot of people you can PM or Email
Hopefully sometime in the next 24 hours..
Also I can shoot an email to AKMuckraker and it can be mentioned on the blog, too

I am halfway between Malibu and Santa Barbara, so anywhere on the Westside is fine, anywhere in the Valley is fine, anywhere in LA is fine for me.
I'm OK with Sunday as a date for the meet up, any time.

fawnskin,
That's really generous of you. But please, let us help contribute to the munchies/food/libations.
Hoping to hear soon from ocliberal that she and family (incuding 4-legged members) are safe and that their home is also. That fire just keeps heading north -- now threatenng parts of Diamond Bar!

Hi Gini,
The best day for me is Sundays...the 30th would work for me, and I'm open to other dates too.
The fire situation here in SB is much better, 40% contained and not really threatening any more homes at this time. Very little smoke at this time.
Thanks for organizing this!

Well this explains why I've been sleeping so poorly the past few days--I thought it was just the wind and the fires:
2 small earthquakes rattle parts of county
From staff reports Ventura County Star
Sunday, November 16, 2008
As if nerves weren't jittery enough with wildfires breaking out all around, Ventura County residents got a reminder of another potential disaster early Saturday in the form of two small earthquakes.
If they even felt them, that is.
The first measured magnitude 3.5 and struck just before 2 a.m.; it was centered about six miles west-northwest of Fillmore, according to U.S. Geological Survey reports.
The second was even gentler, measuring magnitude 2.4. It hit about 5:20 a.m. and was centered about 14 miles south-southwest of Carpinteria.
There were no reports of damage from either temblor.
Also, I'm glad to bring food and wine. And I also want to hear from OCLiberal. That's a tough place to be a liberal and I want to offer support someone like that!

Interesting, nswfm....I'm about 20 miles (or less) from Fillmore...didn't feel a thing during the earthquakes!
Looking forward to meeting you, and everyone!!
