Our first Mudflats Book Club!!!

By popular demand, we're starting with the book "3 Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson.  Amazon has the book in stock for $9.00, and clicking on the link to purchase the book will credit AKM's Amazon account.

To give everyone time to either purchase the book, or to find it at the library, we'll set 11/23 as the starting date for everyone to begin reading the book.

This is the process we'll trial:

During the week, feel free to come to this thread to post comments and/or questions.  We'll also set up live chats to discuss the book as we go.  Times and dates for the chats will be posted here as well.

Please send me a Personal Message if you have any questions or suggestions!

I'm in for the book club! My in-person book club just read this book, so it's great timing for me.

Fantastic book! I wish I could lend my copy to someone - I guess that's one drawback of the virtual book club!

I don't think I can "read" the book by the date - I need audio books, which are expensive, so I'm on the wait list at the library.  But I have done a google search and have several sites where I can read about it and gain some general information.
  Is that good enough?

I've read it but count me in.  Would love to discuss it with like-minded folk... my copy's out "on loan," but I'll try to get it back in time.

I just looked at the book yesterday in Borders--this may be the summer reading book at the college where I teach, so I will be ahead...count me in.

I've ordered the book.

I don't know if I'll say much, but I'll be following the discussion.

The book sounds really good.  If I can discipline myself to read it in time, I'm in.

BTW, for those who need/want audio books, iTunes has this book available for $13.  Libraries are free, of course -- just giving another option.

Well, my copy of the book has "promote peace" in the title, but I know there was a different title originally. And he's definitely building schools as a way to fight terrrorism. I bet it's the same book.

Or if you buy the book through the website www.threecupsoftea.com then 7% of the proceeds go to a girls' education scholarship fund in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
