Tiptoeing Through the Muck...

« on: November 18, 2008, 12:27:18 am »

 Welcome
Hello Night Kitchen crew!  Look, I've even done all the pots & pans, and swept the floor.  The table is de-crumbed, and there are chairs a-plenty.

Pull up a seat and join the conversation!

If you aren't quite sure what to do, click above where it says "The Mudflats Blog Chat"  and read the "How Does Everything Work" post that Sephy wrote for you.  Otherwise click around and explore.  And ask questions!  Everyone is always eager to help.  And if you haven't been here before and want to change how the system behaves, there's probably a way to do it.  Just speak up!

Good morning (or night, depending on where you're from) Kitchen Crew!!

So glad to see some of you here!

I think more of are coming to the forums instead of sitting on the blog.  Administrators and moderators have done a great job of teaching us many things!

Snoskred had a great link to see who is on the forum in "Afternoon in Alaska Open Thread.   I'll see if I can bring it over!  I make no promises, but to try!

Hey all! I turn my back and you've moved house! Though a big shout out to AKM for cleaning the kitchen and leaving it warm. No half-baked ideas for us!

Nitey-nite ira2 and sorry I missed you! I am going to post my rabbit recipe on the other thread in response to yours so we can try each others, Silly Rabbit!

Brit - did set one (the aerobics) now just have the 15 minutes of sit ups and leg lifts. I will return!

And just a word to the "lurker" who wrote that lovely letter to AKM that was posted on the thread - welcome if you join us today, and just remember, at one time we were all newcomers. But in no time at all we become family. Just take a big breath and jump into the fray without a second thought!

Will return shortly with a post-gym cup of coffee... Wink

I'm here on & off as I try to get some cleaning done before going to bed and reading a book and feeding my mudflats addiction and and and

A Brit Abroad -- have you moseyed to the Secret Santa thread?  It was/is supposed to be specific to US (postage & time constraints) but I'm hoping to wear Icy down by getting people (there are many of us now) to volunteer to take on an overseas pal...

In the interim, Icy has made up a card exchange for our overseas friends.

I like the idea of an overseas pen pal again, haven't had one since high school...  Well, except that now I've got a zillion UK ones, but they're friends, and not like that interesting getting to know you pen pal thing!

Hiya SMR - thanks for reminding me, that was on my "to do" list yesterday - i shall go and do it now. I think all this is just wonderful... jamie and I are emailing away to each other. It is a little bit like being a teenager again, having penpals and regaining curiosity in the world around you...

Okay, I'm going to try this link here, hit or miss.  Check out the 2nd cartoon, it has Bible Spice, turkey & pilgrim.  Hat tip to CO Native who first brought it to our attention.  I am loving it!

Going to toss this article in for you all to read it and then see what you have to say.  Had quite a spirited exchange on one of the blog threads about it...

Yes, it was a lovely email.   Glad you are all here and well!  I didn't get much done today, so I should be off so I can accomplish something in the next hour or two before I fall down.  I seemingly, also have a Mudflats addiction!   LOL

Wow, Snoskred!  This place is magical...  That link is  like that thing in Harry Potter that tells where everyone is...  The Marauder's Map!  Very cool.

Yes, moose do like pumpkin.  I had a moose once who ate a jack-o-lantern we had out on the porch.  I got a picture of its first bite, in which its upper jaw was inside the jack-o-lantern, and the entire jack-o-lantern was around its nose.  It looked like a giant Rudolph with a big bulbous orange nose.

The picture is a hard copy and in a box somewhere, but if I ever find it, I'll scan a copy.

There's also a picture of Brian on the Night Kitchen post on the blog.  I took it last year, but it seemed fitting for today's news.

Well, stupid me. For those that don't know (everyone) I live smack dab in the center of Nantes in a first floor (one up over the shops) appartment. So here I am, lying on the floor in highly attractive gym wear doing leg lifts and I look up and realize that it is once again that time of year that the city sends out its cherry pickers - with two men each - to wire the city and hang X-mas lights. Yes, looking right in my window. Oh well...

So that means I am back. Thanks for the link to those cartoons. And now shall I go back and catch up and jump around to visit the other forum threads before or after I wash up?

Brit - I too added my name to the Santa Swap. Now how does the pen pal thingy work? As Brit said, we are already pen pals (and I have two others that I found here as well, one of with whom I am doing an x-mas candy swap!) and it's great. New friends!
