It is chilly here, and we might even get snow flurries. My kids would love that!

Unfortunately we are a little house-bound since my youngest son has a mild case of chicken pox! Good thing one of my best friends is a pediatrician or I would not even have realized he had it.
Don't they give shots for that anymore. I had it when I was very young
allso. I thought there were immunization shots for chicken pox. I could be wrong,
I was once before. So long ago, can't remember when that was.

Love the moose pictures.  Our first sighting of a moose was in Canada by the side of the road.  It was an adolescent moose, which made sense since I had adolescents in the car.  The kids were very impressed.

Since moving to Western MA, we've had one full grown male walk through the orchard and then along the street.  The dogs didn't see him.

And then a female with calf while we were in a car.  We were between them.  We backed up slowly, because the mom was about to charge.  Small car, she would have won.

Deuce2:

They do give shots for chicken pox, which is why his case is very mild. They don't give the booster shot until age 5, so my older two sons seem immune, but my three year old caught it.

I had it at his age (before they did shots) and it was miserable!

Brit - I assume Newfoundland is talking about photos of Queen Palin sitting around the pool in Miami in those short jogging shorts and pink t-shirt looking ratty, tired and all alone...

Deuce2 - haven't tried anything yet re: U of F. He is finishing his last year of high school here, then he'll head to my mom's in Fla and he'll work a year while he waits for a residency status (to pay cheaper) plus he'll have to take some classes at the local community college to improve his written English. But I  will look into scholarships and all the rest.

Hey Brit, the wonderful machine here said I should look at the posts first, but I didn't so missed that one.

She was poolside in FL when a picture was snapped.  Short shorts, and appears to be guzzling out of a champagne glass.

Yes Jamie, I was.  How are you?

I don't vaccines are always reliable... it's been a while since my son had his - we think he managed to get whooping cough anyway, but no one at the clinic could diagnose because it's such a long time since anyone's really caught it!

One thing I do know is that chicken pox is something it's better to get when you're a kid rather than as an adult.

I feel for your son. A little prayer will go a long way. I can't remember
having it, I just remember my grandmother telling me that I had it. At my age,I'm
just glad I can member anythin'.

The only reason I know I had chicken pox is because I invariably get reminded that I passed it to my dad and my sister... I do hope he's not too itchy.

Will check the pool photo thingy...

Hey, Brit,

The picture is still on the front page (though lower down) of the Huffington Post.

No problem, you were talking to Brit about the picture I meant of the Pool and Palin.  Then changing the subject completely I asked how you were.

Brain skips in the morning.

@Newfoundland -

Brain skips in the morning and by the afternoon it is completely reeling (it is 3:40 in the aft. here!). Thanks for asking, I'm ok. Trouble on my mind re : best friend here (alcoholic and just fell off the wagon) and bro' who is sick, but I keep myself up! Have to! Trying to organize a bit of R & R with hubby over holidays - away or cozy at home? Hmm...

@Deuce2 :

Mom still lives in Satellite Beach, south of NASA and Cocoa Beach. Brevard Com Col is closest.

Thanks for the kind words toward my chicken-poxy son. Fortunately he is totally fine. In fact one reason I did not think he had chicken pox was because he is not itchy at all.

I'm from a huge family (12 kids, 7 adopted) and we all got it once over Christmas the year that I was three. My poor parents!

"Perhaps the most significant questions that remain are whether or not Governor Palin and her husband, Todd, committed perjury in their sworn affidavits to the personnel board.

There is significant circumstantial evidence that they did."

This comes from an article on HufPo about Troopergate the 11th hour. Innerestin'...

Hey, Jamie, sorry about all the problems.  My oldest's significant other's mother is going in tomorrow for a consultation on skin cancer on her face.  She's had it for years and just recently the thing has grown to the size of my hand.  She just was in denial.

Then my sister is going in for day surgery the same day for her sinuses.  Hopefully the biopsies will all come out nil.

And the next day one of my brother's children is going in for knee surgery.  They're going to have to replace things in the knee with some other parts of the body.

On the other hand, I'm feeling very tired and exhausted.  This is good news though.  I have had chronic HCV for over 35 years. I got it from "extra" blood during an operation.  I didn't need the blood, the doc just gave it to me.

They tried all of the yucky conventional medications.  Just made it worse.  So for the past year I've been doing a homeopathic remedy and acupuncture and my body is fighting the virus!

After talking to my doc, we decided that feeling tired and having my brain mostly clear during the day, was preferable to a higher level of virus but able to move around.

So good luck and lots of hugs for all of us.
