@SMR:  You are so right.  I Agree They are definitely on a roll. Have a shortcut on my
desktop to their site. Read post earlier today. Helen does not mince words.
I love the way she says it like it is. Everyone needs to read that.  Smiley

Popping in right quick with a link and snippet rec'd from my Sis today:

http://www.borowitzreport.com/

[...]
The President-elect's stubborn insistence on using complete sentences has already attracted a rebuke from one of his harshest critics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

"Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said.

BigSlick - that's interesting. Apparently there are lots of surprising similarities between Japanese and Swedish culture... I'm making more of an effort to get back to the UK regularly - I had reached a point where I had a foot in both countries and my head in the North Sea - I know exactly what you mean by not being "normal" anywhere...

I have been to Sweden and I have corresponded with a Swedish penpal since about 1971. While I know little about Japan, I have heard that culturally, one does not want to stand out in either society. For example, I have heard that to build a bigger house in Sweden than that of your neighbor would be in poor taste. Blending in is supposed to be valued.

Been on the Flats since about day two of SP. Changed my old, regular blog name a couple of days ago for the forum so I could make my way around while I figured things out. Think I'll keep the split personality...only The Shadow Knows.

I'm really amazed at the new posters who have jumped on the blog since AKM encouraged us to take some of the personal stuff and re-direct it here. Still pretty uncomfortable with the design - too busy, too jarring and sorry, but I don't like emodicons. But no problem for those who do.

Was just looking at the current blog and I think at least half of the posters are names I've never seen before. I really believe that lots of them were off put, or hesitant, by what they perceived as a closed club or that they were late to the game.

It's almost like somebody called Joe The Plumber and had him unclog a drain and let some new folks pour in.

How cool is that?

And yes, it's great to see so many folks here....you can never be too late for this party!

Now that it seems that TED is gone--or going--it's time for Alaskans to expect and demand better of their government.

How about indoor plumbing for everyone? How about sanitary sewers for everyone? How about schools and medical facilities for everyone?

Let's get as much of this done as we can while eyes are on Alaska and Mudpuppies worldwide are willing to help keep the light shining on these dark secrets. Flag

NEWS FLASH:
Marty VA has been banished.  That's right, you heard it here first. He was engaging in so much trash talk, so much kitten abuse and so much general nastiness that he has been sent to his room for a time out.  Lips Sealed Let's hope he stops hoarding all the forum-related knowledge and when he is allowed out tells us: WHERE IS OSAMA BIN LADEN?
