Thanks ...

And we drink a lot of Australian wine also.  This year we created a pasta sauce from the garden with Shiraz added.  It is incredibly good.  There is a peppery deepness that isn't there with traditional wine additives.  I have a very ancient cookbook from the CA wine industry that mainly calls for burgundy.

Apparently Melbourne has the highest population of italian and Greeks outside Italy and Greece. (Maybe not Italy...I reckon USA has that one)

Every year I tutor at a textile festival in Wangaratta, a small country town in country Victoria, Australia. It has a huge Italian community. The food in the delis is outstanding, as are the wines from the local wineries. The Italians revolutionized food and wine here and the best you will find is in the country/rural areas.

I guess we will never know whether the wine or the food came first. I would like to think the one benefited the other. I am happy either way.  LOL

Shoot me... but I've just discovered organic wines from Argentina...

Jamie, you and me and the men should get together for a feast - and you and my bloke can sit there shaking your heads while your hubby and I cook by "feel". I simply cannot stick to a recipe and it drives him up the wall... he's never learned to cook properly, so he needs to have a recipe as he has no sense of what needs the most cooking time. Consequently he has a few things that he cooks well and infrequently and I tend to do haphazard everyday cooking. He does good pancakes though!

Sorry - I was off on another forum thread. Nite nite Zim! Sweet dreams filled with yummy things to eat.

Brit - ya fun idea! I  cannot be in the kitchen when hubby cooks or we start fighting. I keep saying "Are you sure? That much? Shouldn't you add more? Why don't you..." and that's when he grabs me by the arm and shoves me out the kitchen door! One at a time in the kitchen. But I must say, that everytime he cooks, it is fabulous! Tagine, chili, anything except of course my specialities (non-pastry specialties) - risottos, quiches and souffles.

I just need to start with a recipe, then I can adjust or improvise. If I really want to make something I've never done before, I'll find a recipe in 4 or 5 different cookbooks and mix them all together, knowing more or less what quantities seem right. Figured out seafood risotto that way! Yummy!

Ha ha. I'm not allowed in the kitchen when boyf is cooking either... I get itchy fingers that then get whacked with a wooden spoon.

On the other hand, I've just had an even better idea - put the men in kitchen (I guarantee mine won't interfere in the cooking process) and you and I can head for the sofa with a bottle of wine...

Oh, wish I could come up with a good headache cure, but I can't... more coffee is always good though...

Brit - I sure do like that idea of the men in the kitchen and us on the sofa with a bottle of wine (Swedish?) and the pets.  LOL

Well, I get these headaches every now and then, I drink lots of coffee, eat a lot of bread (I think it is the chewing that helps weirdly enough) and just wait. It usually goes away as we are getting into bed and then I am wired, much to JP's chagrin.

When did you say you'll be in the new bungalow? And when does spring arrive?

We move on 29 Dec... up here spring arrives(ish) in May. At the new house it's earlier - winter down there seems to have disappeared a bit over the years, proper winter anyway. Much more like English weather now. Undecided Still, it means there's more to do in the garden.

How's it going with the apartment????

Hi Deuce,
Seems like you lost "regenade" in the move.  Wink

I haven't added "rosebud" either over here. Must do it. Smiley

Hi Jamie and Brit. I guess you two are the night crew. It's cold here in the south US.
34 degrees and it's only 9 degrees in Wasilla, AK.  Devil
