We live in the backcountry (foothills) just north of the Mexican border.  We're not even as populated as Wasilla, and the wildfires last year took half of our neighbors.  This is DuncanHunterLand, so linking up with Mudflats has been a salve to my tortured soul.  Don't get me wrong–– there are lots of good people around who would give you the proverbial shirt off their back, but Koolaid has been the beverage of choice for far too long.  Our radio stations are all right-wing.  (NPR the sole exception.)  I put an Obama sticker on the back of my car, but really had to confront my existential fears in doing so.  [Glad to say, I've had no issues... goes to show the power of unfounded fear..]

Alaska-- you give me hope for the future.  When I read about the protester at the Juneau cruiseship docks, and the women who lined the streets in Anchorage to speak out–– I was renewed.

You are a much-appreciated  gift.  Muchas gracias por todo.  Two Thumbs Up!

You can bet I'll be checking in regularly.  Sanity is a too-rare commodity.
