I'm from a red state
I'm very happy that I found Mudflats, it's like having a bff that I can call up and get the real skinny on what's going on instead of listening to the bs that's flying around.
Glad to be here!

Nope! In fact when I was out walking with a friend this morning we saw a woman walking her dog. She commented on my friends Obama bumper sticker and said she liked it. So Middle GA has some sane people living here!

I finally made the transition & an email today said I'd be welcome here in Peachland.
I live in Athens & even tho' Clarke Co. is allegedly blue in sea of red, I'd beg to differ... at least where I live. Met 2 women wearing cool "Obama Rama" shirts in the Botanical Garden gift shop. They told me about Carlo, the 14 yr. old kid who created the design & had them made. We had a victory lunch yesterday. But it was Mudflats that sustained me since Labor Day wkend. Mudflats is an unbelievable phenom!!
Anyone else live in or near or visit Athens? Sure hope you give me a call!

MomsHugs,
I'm brand new here (on the forum, but not Mudflats) ... so if I've missed something, my apologies.
I just read Waverli's story at the Wasilla Frontiersman site (
http://www.frontiersman.com/articles/2008/11/13/opinion/columnists/doc491d0c71aa9b4424387056.txt
). It's just beautiful.
So I forwarded it on to Huffington Post. Just thought you would like to know.

Hi, minesbetter - from SC, another red state. Before the election, I was MizKay [stuck in] Red Carolina - but now I'm just MizKay. Welcome to the Mudflats forum!

So I forwarded it on to Huffington Post.
That Waverli is one smart kid! She captured the feelings of millions of people - no small feat. Thanks go to AKM for posting it for us Mudflatters.
Btw... Frontiersman is publishing an interview of Waverli - I think on Mon, 11/24.
Are you in AK or down here in a SE state?
I came late to this party (Georgia thread).
Hope other SE mudpuppies pick up & post here.
Maybe we should change it to "SE Region" - anyone?

Loved this! Many thanks for the laughs.
I played hostest to several Obama field organizers who spent 2 weeks here working hard to get folks to vote for Dem. Jim Martin in the run-off for GA's Senate seat. Its hard to understand how >100,000 people voted for Obama & walked out without voting for the Dem. Senate candidate. Harder to get them back for the run-off.
These young people were recent college grads & really worked long 12 hr. days. Thanks to them, Martin got 68% of the vote in my county where most of the UGA college kids vote GOP. All their efforts couldn't make up for all the TV/Talk-Radio coverage given Dr. Broun's wild-axx statements about Obama being a socialist, Marxist & leading us into a Nazi state.
But I have say, these kids from Indiana were great - the kind of young people that give me a lot of hope for the future of our nation!

You're red? I looked up the word in the dictionary and found a picture of Alabama.
