Might it be easier to divide the entries into seasons?  Put all the winters together, all the springs together, etc. 

Perhaps set them up as four separate polls, top 3 vote-getters per season?  Am I making sense? lol

Mona, I think that makes a lot of sense, except that for some photos it's hard to discern the season. I think we'd either have to put entries into multiple categories or ask everyone to determine which season their photos should go in.

Maybe feedback from those who already voted would help? For me it was easier to categorize them seasonally before choosing, but I did place one or two photos in more than one season.

That'd be fine with me....

Ooo!  Mini-brainstorm:  The easiest (and on a global-level, fairest) thing might be 4 polls, each titled as a different season.  But let ALL the entries be in all four polls.  (Winter in AK is snowy, but in CT is more often muddy, and in TX or AZ the view would be completely different, ya' know?)

Mudpuppies around the world would vote, based on how each envisions or experiences that particular season.

I think that makes a lot of sense, MonaLisa. I would like to hear Icy's opinion, since she's the one who set up the poll!

Update - Icy told me it was pretty labor intensive to set up that poll. So I think we should stick with one. But if you feel so inclined, MonaLisa, maybe you could organize the photos seasonally on photobucket?

Alternatively, someone could volunteer to re-organize the poll...   Grin

If there's going to be a revamp of the setup on the calandar vote, i.e; four groups for the four seasons, how about reopening the submissions for a week or so? More photos entered, more interest. Possibly with a notice in the general blog and action alert.

Rankle, I love your avatar. And if it's any indication of your photography skills, I can see why you'd want to be able to enter the contest.

I believe that we are leaving this contest (both the poll and photos) as is, since it was fairly labor-intensive to set up and the voting has been going on for some days now.

However, I think the mudflats community would be most receptive to a new photo contest once this one has ended. We would love to see you take the lead in setting that one up. If you wanted, you could start a thread asking for ideas for the next contest...

I look forward to seeing your work!
