Okie - Dokie   Here we go.  The idea is to make a Mudflats calendar featuring 12 photos from those submitted by Mudflatters.  I am truly impressed with the beautiful photos posted in the photo thread.  It would be good to demonstrate the geographical diversity of participants here and to showcase the creativity of the photo submissions.

We will vote on the most favorite photos and tally for the top 12.  (Okey, help is needed on creating the poll)

So let us start to post those photos - limit of 4 per person - Having some fun now!!  Let us submit those posts until Dec 1 and then create a poll to select the top 12.

Sounds good. My question: Do they have to be local photos? I can see the logic for this, but just asking. Smiley

Are there any parameters at all? Can they be any subject? Black & white or color?

Just note that we have to be a little careful re copyright.

Can you make sure the images are ones you have taken yourself, please? Wink

All of the photos I post are from free picture websites. I do take your copywrite
rules very seriously.

The trouble with free picture websites is we cannot be sure how those pictures got there or if the original taker of the image gave permission for it to be there. In every day use on the forums for an image you post once, that might be perfectly fine.

However in this case, the images are intended to be used in an actual calendar for the mudflats. Whether this is something we actually get printed or not, we need to be 100% sure of the copyright of the images.

So when it comes to images for this calendar, please only post images you have taken yourself.

Fair enough? Smiley

I am the world's worst picture taker.  I can have the best shot in front of me and for some reason totally blow it.  I don't submit these  as entries but rather as a submission to the testament of my future photo taking skills and because I am very proud of them.

Note:  The possibility exists that this moderator will be moderated and this post moved to an appropriate thread for aesthetics sake!

Trust me, the digital camera was invented for people like me!   LOL

This is a photo of my grandson and his best buddy, Patrick, in the park down the street from our house.  The molting cottonwoods make it look like they are walking through a waterfall!

Number 3

This one I love because I love the person in it (the one whose face you can't see) and I know I loved her in another life ... but mostly because it is, outside of my grandbabies, the most joyful photograph I've ever taken.  I couldn't use it in my paper because the conversion to blk/wht (no pun intended) left something in the translation (pun intended).

@Rubo: You are absolutely correct. Your pictures are awesome. Keep
pulling the trigger on that digital gun camera.

2. The swamp beyond my queendom's eastern border:  Number 6

3. Ira finds a porcupine near our home:  Number 7

4. The little lady-slipper pond a quarter mile down the trail:

Beautiful!

@mimi:  Could people re-post some photos here that they first posted in the photo thread?  I know we have some gorgeous pics in there too!  I'm going to play with photobucket & come back with my "submissions".

Wonderful idea!  Thank you....

My first submission....taken in the Himalayas near "Shangrila", Tibetan prayer flags.  I used this also as my avatar during the elections...my prayers for Obama!

Icy, I've always loved the prayer-flag photo -- even more now that it's not scrunched down to avatar size! Smiley

Please feel free to post photos from the other thread.  The beauty of the work there is what gave me the idea in the first place.

My, oh, my - we might need to add months to the calendar - such beautiful photos submitted so far.
I particularly love the joyful photo of the two women in the park. 1 Thumb Up!
