She hasn't quite finished the job of killing the Republican Party.  If she helps Chambliss lose, the job will be done.

Oh very good point Jaime!

Missed opportunity: the "Welcome to Georgia, Turkey" sign concession at the airport.

Right up there with the "Will pretend to be French for a 5-minute conversation with Sarah" t-shirts.

Will she be doing it (i.e. killing off the Republican Party) by helicopter do you think ?

Dang - I step out for the morning to work for a living and miss all the duck-talk.

Yes, A Brit Abroad, I do raise ducks, and keep a few chickens as well. There is a super book written by Dave Holderread called "Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks" (Storey Publishing) that really tells you all you need to know, without sending you to veterinary school. I think ducks are easier than chickens, though different. You don't need a pond (everyone asks). And no, I don't slaughter or eat them, but I do love the eggs. If you are unable to find the book I can let santa know and have him send one along to you.

I keep Indian Runner ducks, the funny ones that stand up straight and book around forraging:

This photo is from Holderreads farm in Oregon, where some of mine came from - probably a relative of Capt. Underpants, the white male in my current avatar.

I'm always up to talking duck. Feel free to PM if you have questions!

Caligrl - bread probably isn't that bad a snack for ducks, so long as it isn't theirwhole  diet. Cracked corn ditto - a little more nutritious (depending on your bread!), but still a nice snack, not a complete diet. Gotta get them bugs too. In summer I collect the tomato hornworms from the garden and present them to the ducks. Amusing! Ya gotta eat those things head first or you're in for real trouble!!

Today I took a stroll through the Smithsonian's American History Museum. It just re-opened on Friday after a renovation lasting 2+ years. I stopped by the hall of Presidents. They have a timeline of all the US Presidents with portraits of each. And there was Barack Obama, our 44th President.

I'm not sure what it was that made me get choked up - just seeing Obama as a part of our history on the museum wall, or seeing all the people lined up to take a picture of him.

Your ducks are so cute! Smiley And I'm really glad you don't eat them! When I go feed the ducks and geese here, I give them whole wheat bread...Cheesy There is nice grass there, so I'm sure they get their insects and such....
When I was young a neighbor had a pet duck, and she was like a "Watch duck",lol! My birds were like that too, but I just lost my parakeet yesterday...Sad
And I think my cockatiel is lonely now because his little friend is gone...
My Dad just passed away a little over 2 wks ago, and yesterday my bird.  My computer went all weird on me also last night, was only showing the desktop pick of my "Boy" my dog that passed in 2005. Oh and my Dog "Marshmellow" a white german shepherd had a surgery this week for a ear hematoma....
That's why I've haven't been online too much...too much to deal with...

@caligrl,
You need  Group Hug I'm so sorry to hear your father passed away. That is so sad - my dad passed away over two years ago and I do know what you are going through. And all the other things going wrong only makes things seem even worse. I am thinking of you at this time.

Even though we are talking over the internet, I do agree that we have a special community here and we are all looking out for one another. Thanks to AKM for that. Tired Mom and Caligrl - you are in our thoughts.
