Tiptoeing Through the Muck...

« on: November 26, 2008, 01:03:10 am »

Hello Night Kitchen crew!  There's a beautiful snow falling tonight in Anchorage.  I just went outside for a minute and enjoyed the silent dark, and the feeling of snowflakes melting on my face. We've got several inches of accumulation, and who knows how much tomorrow.

I'd post a picture for you, but these days I get up in the dark, and go to and from work in the dark so not many good opportunities to take pictures.  Brian could be right outside my door and I wouldn't even know it.

The Night Kitchen on my end is starting to fill up with Thanksgiving goodies!

There's a nasty rain falling here in my part of Australia. It feels like it might be cold enough to snow, though.

I had expected to be swanning around in shorts and t-shirts by now. I am actually wearing layers, it is so cold.

I was watching the Behind the Scenes episode of season 4 of the Deadliest Catch last night, and there was this scene where the camera guys were out in a snow fall, and they pointed the camera at the sky and let snowflakes fall on the lens.

That is the closest I have ever been to experiencing real snow. But if we don't get summer soon, maybe it will snow!

This weekend we are going out on a Christmas boat cruise, so I am hopeful nice weather might come to us as a surprise..

Those are my cookies. Wink I baked them good, chocolate chip!

Rage, rage, against the dying of the light

« Reply #3 on: November 26, 2008, 01:41:42 am »

I am battling bad bad jetlag.  The jetlag is winning this battle for now, but I WILL win the war eventually.

In meantime, I posted the below on AKM's blog but want it to be seen here too because I am full of MORAL OUTRAGE right now at this very moment and want others to feel it too.

Quote
OT - Craig Ferguson’s Thank You Sarah Palin” spoof was priceless, I hope everyone gets another chance to see it.

Sarah Palin continues to make herself not just Alaska’s problem, but America’s problem, in that she is campaigning nationally even after her own campaign defeat. Her trip to Georgia says to me that she is fair game for THE ENTIRE WORLD to take aim at her from rhetorical helicopters as she runs across the open snow-covered prairie.

Our Alaskan HEROES appear to be dis-empowered by the second eclipse and nobody knows when they will get their powers back - except for one wild and crazy comic writer whose blog will be the key to said powers returning.

THE REST IS STILL UNWRITTEN

It should turn out to be a beaut, going by all those great pictures that have already been posted in the photo thread and the follow-up thread. We mudflatters do live in some gorgeous places Smiley

Cool  I have a new avatar! I took this photo on a trip to NM last summer. These are mountains near Socorro, NM (south of Albuquerque).
I took Icy's advice and used Picnik to resize. It was so fast and easy to do!

I just spotted this in The Times, South Africa.

Apparently when she was interviewed, Palin knew that turkeys were being slaugthered behind her. An Alaskan blogger wrote that when the governor chose the spot,  the photographer pointed out what was going on and asked her if she wanted to move. She said, “No worries.”

You don't need to ask who the Alaskan blogger is!  Cheesy

Good morning all, I've been working pretty long hours the past few days so haven't been around. Had to drop in and find out what was going on.
Why pray tell are all politicians spineless? How blatent does abuse of power have to be before they do something? If she had purposley swerved off the road to mow down the unfortunate Mr. Mooegan in front of 100 whitnesses would that qualify, somehow I doubt it.
Sounds like she is AWOL anyway, can't imagine with the downturn in gas prices things are not well with the Alaska state budget yet she is jetting off to Georgiia and just who is picking up the tab this? I will bet it's not her.
I have been floored by her and Ted Stevens and their belief it is perfectly fine to take bribes and rip off the taxpayers now we know why because no one will do anything.

I just about died laughing when I heard this on the radio. Frozen Butterball should be greatful he has been replaced as the laughing stock of the world by Turkey Giblets. . I heard a little joke blurb on the radio yesterday that said we democrats should be supporting Turkey because as long as she is the poster child of the republican party the democrats will continue to win by historic landslides. In a poll conducted nationwide this blurb said the descriptions most associated with Turkey were airhead, and narrow minded. I say you go girl, show them what the republicans are really all about.
