Scotch-Irish is a term I had heard as well, but we call it Scotts-Irish.

Works for me. Scotch is the nectar of the gods--so I'm told.

Another day, another controversy in Palin world.
Levi has quit his job and MSM world is no longer covering this scandal, which, frankly, is as it should be.
We know she's a liar, so it's guaranteed that in spite of all of her denials, she had a hand in him getting this job, even if it was limited to her letter of reference.
Looking for a silver lining in this cloud -- and hopefully that will be increased scrutiny of ASRC's hiring practices for the apprenticeship programs for which they allegedly receive federal funds (that would be your tax paying dollars, folks). If that results in more Alaskan natives or other
deserving & qualified
people getting into the program -- as opposed to the recipients of cronyism/nepotism benefits - then wonderful, it will not be for naught.
Good luck to Levi, Bristol, and their child -- they are going to need all of the support and well-wishes that they can get. The bottom line is that being a parent is a tough job, and certainly tougher if you are young and have a wackadoo family with big issues. THese kids have the benefit of great health coverage for Bristol & the baby, unlike most kids their age(s), and parents who are able to lend a hand financially and have room for them in their homes. They're ahead of the game in those respects.

Scotch Irish/Scotts' Irish.
Mi hubby says, also known as 'plantation' Scots.
There was a fair bit of back and forth...migration between Northern Ireland and low-land Scotland for both work/political reasons...for some time.
Or so have been told. By family hailing from these parts.

In the early seventeenth century, when James I decided the Irish needed to be "civilized", he put into force a colonization plan which emigrated English protestants, Presbyterian Scots, and even French and German protestants from their homelands into Ireland, particularly into Ulster. The folks that get called Scotch-Irish, Scot-Irish, plantation Irish and so on were called Ulster Scots in the history books in Scotland, at least in my formative years!
Since Levi has quit his job, I hope he's reading this as part of his education (just trying to bring it back on topic, however strained the attempt.

Where is Levi living, now that he's no longer at the job site?
Usually when a Dad can't pay child support, the debt continues to accumulate. It's like a taxi meter that keeps on running until he pays it. How much will Levi owe Bristol in back child support by the time he is fully employed? By the time they get married?
