Tiptoeing Through the Muck...

Night fellow Mudpuppies,

Brian was in the yard just now.  I can only tell you that from circumstatial evidence.  The "Buf!" of the dog, and the rustling of the bushes when I opened the door.  It's dark in Alaska these days.  Only 10 more days until we reach the winter solstice, and then our days will begin to get longer again!   Dancin' Chili

AKM - just a question...

do you have any sense about what's gonna happen up there about Sarah and all her various gates?

Let's see... I should be in bed, but my consciousness is streaming around food. Eddying, really. Being sucked into the maelstrom of imaginary food. Namely chocolate. Marbled chocolate sliced paper-thin and arranged on a plate with a starry halo of molten chocolate... chocolates oranges... raspberry-and-cream-filled chocolates... chocolate-dipped strawberries... chocolate-dipped cherries... melted chocolate drizzled over coffee ice cream... chocolate shavings dancing on snowy cappuccino peaks... MAKE IT STOP!! OH, MAKE IT STOP!! I can't... can't... can't hold on, it's too strong, it's sucking me into the chocolate vortex -

There  Smiley  That's a nice thought to play with in our toasty comfy night kitchen. Chocolate. Have fun!

(It's all Jamie's fault, she made me think about chocolate. And biscotti. But that's another story. I'm off to bed thinking some more about chocolate.)

Yes, on the yellow boots, but I wish they had a little smily with "I need chocolate" as I don't drink coffee even during day light hours. I finally finished sorting, scanning, labeling and uploading  300 Family photo's my quota for today. So, I could come and play in the Mudflats for a bit before I go to bed. The photo thing is an Ancestry.com Family Tree for chrismas presents.

Great articles AKM, and the comments today were spot on. Now, I'm almost too tired to post my own comments, receipe and dog picture. Maybe tomorrow I'll do that first thing. I do believe I'm going to send off a few emails to some old Harvard buddies just to see if they might know someone that would like to take SP's misdeeds on as a class project. Would be fun to see what they come up with as she is giving them plenty to work with don't you think. I've kind of figured all along, give her enough rope...will you know how that goes.

Have faith, it will not be long before the librals back in charge and things will look a whole lot different.

Hey gang! I am back! I have been in Austria and Germany (in a ship on the Danube) for the past week.

As you can suspect, people over there are thrilled that Obama won. So glad to be back though and reconnected to the net and the outside world.

GJ, I think that's a fantastic idea!  And also, one would think that there would be an attorney somewhere who might be interested in some worthy pro bono work!

 Welcome back Eyes!  How I envy you!!  I am from northern Germany, and have never been to the southern part, but both Germany and Austria are wonderful this time of year. Have they started the Christmas markets yet?

Yes, I reclaimed my boots!  The stunned dog was OK, but I'm much more comfortable now.

@Jamie
Let's see....Sarah and her gates.  The LEGAL gates are - perjury, IRS offenses, and witness tampering.  Those all fall under federal law.  So those, potentially could be the most damaging.

The ethical gates, which will depend on the Legislature or the Department of Law and AG Talis Colberg to enforce (yeah, right) are - Violation of the Ethics Act in Troopergate, Per Diem Gate, Kids Travel Gate, and possibly failure to disclose free travel gifts issue that came up yesterday.

Gates which are damaging to reputation only - Dimwit Gate, Making Stuff Up Gate, Wardrobe Gate, Baby Gate, Croneyism, Incompetence, the Pipeline that will never happen.....am I forgetting anything?  Probably.

Oh....and the wild card.  House Gate.  I'm hoping that someone out there somewhere is checking into this one.  It sank the unsinkable ship of Ted Stevens...so it could do it again.

My overall sense is that somethign somewhere will be the magic bullet.  She is simply too unaware/cocky/arrogant/clueless to go on for two more years without doing SOMEthing that will be the thing.  It could also be a general Sarah-fatigue that is a summary of all the negative press, and unethical but not technically illegal stuff that leaves a bad taste in people's mouths.

@Eyes - Welcome back!

AKM:

Impressive list Shocked

But you have forgotten one important gate:  her continuous massacre of the English language.  Us English teachers demand SP be held accountable.  (Don't make me get out my red pen...)

I think the TransCanada pipeline- the agreement is signed tomorrow, yes?- will rile a lot of Alaskans, when they find out the most of the $500 million will go down the tubes (no pun intended Wink) Do you think the Legislature will grow a backbone, and hold  her accountable/repudiate the Personnel Board (aka Palin's Lackeys) decision?

Ugh, yes.  Grammar Gate?  Syntax Gate?  Word Gate? Sentence Gate?  The mind reels.  That woman needs way more than a red pen, unless it were used as a crude tool to rearrange the language center of her brain!

Yes, the pipeline is a ticking time bomb.  She signs the agreement tomorrow in Fairbanks.  It will not play well when we lose the $500 million, especially if the price of oil continues to free-fall (around $40/barrel today), and the economy stays in the crapper.

The legislature grow a backbone?  Hmmm.....  I haven't entirely given up on them yet, but I'd feel better with a Democratic majority in either the House or the Senate.  It's possible that with enough public pressure they will do SOMEthing.  I doubt they would ever address the Personnel Board's investigation directly.  Anything at all would be a moral victory.  We'll see how it goes.

Perhaps I need some Irish potato cakes ?

Does seem like an Irish morning - was wet and now it's sunny.

I'm going to dig out the camera and have a bash at capturing the views from our windows.

Be back later.

Oh. My. God.

I just had the most *stunning* dinner. I was stunned. Stunned by stir fry.

Actually it was based on the recipe from the cooking club over here..

Ya'all want to try cooking this one night next week, and post a photo of your results as I am about to do in that thread? Check back in about 10 mins on the cooking thread, I'll have it posted. Wink
