Seriously, AKM (all US constitutional scholars, can you verify this somehow) if the purjury crosses state lines then it is potentially federal? This is great news!

Irish pork taken off shop shelves

Pork from both sides of the Irish border has been withdrawn from shop shelves amid fears that it could be contaminated with potentially harmful dioxins.

Nine farms in Northern Ireland and 10 in the Republic have used the same contaminated animal feed.

This is not good news for the pork industry here. Especially before Christmas.

I knew no good would come from putting lipstick on pigs.  Sad

Investigations have revealed that breadcrumbs used in an animal feed distributed by one licensed supplier tested positive for the banned contaminants. The feed producer - who made the breadcrumbs from recycled bread and dough - was closed down in the middle of last week and restrictions placed on all farms he supplied in southern Ireland.

"Breadcrumbs from recycled bread and dough"? What the hell?

It does sound strange. I suppose it is used to bulk up the pig feed.
It will be interesting to see how the contamination occurred.

Anybody remember this photo? It was traveling around the net a few years back, when there were still a few things being made in the USA and being exported presumably to our north.

I'm going to have to put it away now. I'll miss it, but I won't miss it.

I'll be in and out of the forum for the rest of this week as my mother is having a replacement heart valve and bypass this morning.  I'll find out how the operation went this afternoon.   Please keep your collective digits crossed !

If all goes well, she'll be released from hospital next week and will be recuperating with me.
