Hey AKM - Just wanted to thank you, since you are online presently, for the fun and information on the site - wow, what an undertaking - be well - from one AKer to another - only a few of us know the joy of finding a moose bedded down in the midst of the trail where we walk the dog...yikes. I am considering writing a song - moose droppings in the snow - to the tune of love letters in the sand, except I don't know the melody to that one, but the phrasing would fit!

A fine and warm evening to you  - stay out of that wind!!  It's Freezing!

Hi AKM,

I just suggested on the last post (way OT, I know, I'm a bad girl...) that you should Margaret and Helen to your blogroll. Juror #11 doesn't do much for me, if you need something to dump... she showed some promise, but doesn't seem to have much staying power. Helen, however... Don't we all wish we could be like her at her age (or even at our age!). Just sayin', also, doncha know.

Off to bed now. toddle, toddle, toddle.

g'night! Undecided

The Admins on the forums will be updating The States Project at the end of this week.

http://www.themudflats.net/forum/index.php/topic,3753.0.html

What is the States project?

Quote
Over these past few weeks, we’ve been introducing ourselves on the forums, and letting the other folks here know where we are, and the moderators and admins thought it would be a cool idea to compile a list of members by what state (or country! Wink ) we live in.

If you are a mudpuppy and you have not taken a moment to write a quick (or long, up to you) intro on the forums, do it over the next couple of days (during Tuesday or Wednesday) and you’ll be added when the states project is next updated.

If your name is on the states project, it makes fellow forum members better able to find you in the event of a mudstock. Wink So head over to the introduce yourself forum -

http://www.themudflats.net/forum/index.php/board,3.0.html

and post your intro today. Wink

Hey all, Had a sick household recently.  Just colds but appears to be one from the lower depths of exsistence.

Thank goodness AKM you put the link back on.  I could find my way here.

Two things:

First: I'm re-reading some of my Dana Stabenow novels and read "Play With Fire."  Working with the troubling people who are fundamentalists taking over a school and area in the bush.  Doesn't fix anything, wish it could since the book was written in 1995, maybe Palin would have been different, hmm I doubt it, but on page 170 or so Stabenow gave a very interesting idea that would sort of shoot Palin in the foot.  She probably wouldn't notice though.  Stabenow's character wonders if "teachers were allowed to teach their students that gas was refined from petroleum, which was a fossil fuel formed over millions of years from decayed plant and animal remains, such as dinosaurs."  Hmmm, I don't think oil from 6,000 years ago would have the same sort of umph.

Second:  Have you in AK read about the IL governor??  He's been arrested for abuse of power.  Don't know if he's guilty but isn't that interesting??  Hope you have the same thing happen to your governor.

Good day all!

@Writing from Alaska - Welcome!  Are you in Anchorage, or elsewhere?  Hope you are enjoying the Forum and having fun exploring all the nooks and crannies.  Glad you've been enjoying the blog!

@pdx - Can you give me a link to the blog you are talking about?  I haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet, but I will.  Juror #11 is getting a bit...inconsistent and sort of erratic.  I've shuffled her over to "fun stuff" and out of "blogroll".  We'll see what happens with it...

@Newfoundland Dogs - Yes, that was quite something about the Illinois governor.  I feel like Alaska has been upstaged!  There's a conversation going on about it here:

Hi AK, What fun - thanks for the quiz links.
Heads up - the link to the short quiz on your last post takes us to 'a result' - the actual address to take the quiz ends with the 'dot org'
I took the short quiz - now to check out the long version. . .

Good morning all !

Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and group hugs for my mother.  I'm pleased to say that her operation went well and she's making a good recovery.  I went to see her yesterday and could tell she was doing well as she was able to fill me in on the histories of the other three women on her ward.  I'll be going back to see her again tomorrow and am expecting that she'll be even more herself.

Thanks again for all your kind thoughts and PMs.

Too true Jamie !  At the weekend, she was able to listen into the Christmas party gossip amongst the nursing staff - seems it was a good party.

Good Morning all from beautiful New Mexico!

@Sirenoftitan,

Wonderful news about your mom.  You being close must be a gift to her, I'm so glad that she is bouncing back well and hope that she continues!

WELL, I am here for a little support this morning.  My little precious "Bisou" ( a 16 pound schnauzer/poodle mix - who we rescued from the streets of Albuquerque ) is having surgery in the morning to remove bladder stones.  He is only six years old...he's cute as all get out and sweet as candy.  He is also an escape artist (probably how he came to be ours in the first place!) and we have had him since June of 2004.  He helped me get through my two rounds of Chemo last year and was my constant, loving companion - in addition to my wonderful husband.  I partially credit him for my recovery and remission - his good vibes and sweet nature cheered me during some of my roughest of days.

I SWORE I would never have another pet because my heart aches so much when you lose them; but my daughter is a sucker for stray's and she found this little precious dog but couldn't afford to keep him as she already had two to care for...so who did she call?  How could I say no to this little guy?

At least this is "fixable" and it's not fatal (tell that to my bank account Shocked) but for some reason I am quite uneasy about this surgery.

I've been pampering him all week in anticipation of his overnight stay and surgery scheduled for the morning Cry....
I know all you pet owners know how I feel , so I figured I could come here and share and you know what?  I already feel a bit better.

Okay...onward through the day.  Thanks for listening my muddy friends.

I am sending you big hugs Goalie!  and you little poochie too!!!  I hope all goes well with the surgery.
our animals bring us such joy and unconditional love it is heartbreaking to watch them go through any type of distress, they so don't deserve any problems since they always seem to help us with ours.

Hugs and love to both of you!

Good morning back at you from Colorado-

My dog Mocha had a bladder stone remove last year- the size of a lemon Tongue  The surgery went well, and she was much better afterwards.  Good luck to your Bisou, and warm hugs to you- let us know how it goes.
