Hello Mudflatters,

Due to the excitement (?) caused by Gov. Palin's nom to VP, I like other Alaskans, was spurred to activity, some of which has been slightly life changing. I started a blog for the first time in my life, as I had a story to share that I thought was of significance concerning some of her practices in office. My first blog and a few other things I wrote were seen by a few folks. My best day was only a couple of hundred viewers, however, the original blog made it's way through the winding roads of the internet to be linked from a few other websites and was even mentioned on NPR. Wow, and I had decided to blog with an alias, still haven't decided if that was a good or bad decision. Anyway, the story eventually made its way to someone who covered the issue in question for a big paper on the East Coast and while it didn't make a big splash, I was content that I had added to the conversation successfully. In the process of writing, I was asked to do some reporting for an online and print publication so, though I don't share my just tremendously interesting personal opinions in the role of reporter, I am of the belief that I am continuing to get the word out on Alaska, and sharing some of the important information that most folks around the country need to know.

I miss blogging, but just can't dedicate the time it takes to do the outstanding job that others are continuing to do, so happily I am joining in on Mudflats so that I can take part from time to time. I do appreciate the great effort that has gone into creating this great space and place.

Yours truly, Amy Jones (was my grandmother's name)

Warm welcom!!! Welcome

Please feel free to rant whenever it seems appropriate. We generally enjoy that sort of thing here. If no one already has a thread going, please start a new one! We sure don't have a monopoly on the possible issues.

I might put the posts back up for historical reference - or hysterical reference as the case may be!
