I can't see why we cant get a really large group together.
Lets bring in the new year, or there abouts celebrating a new beginning and the Mudflats community.
I'm thinking Dec 27 or Jan 3rd. That works for me, but oh wait...
Where can you find a restaurant in NYC ?

hmmm

any ideas?

DrChill - good to see another NYer willing to organize a Mudstock.

Have been talking to non-nyers about having one in NYC, but since we are from all over it may have to be farther along like spring or summer (which doesn't exclude you having one at New Year!). How does that sound?

Dr. Chill -

Please keep me updated on any plans (unless it is all posted in the thread). I live outside of DC, so NY is a fairly easy jaunt, and my mom lives in Manhattan, so I have a place to stay there anytime.

I don't know if I can make it there over the holidays, but it's definitely a possibility...

I'm in NYC, but not on the list. Also, too, most of NYS is a long haul from NYC.

I can't see why we cant get a really large group together.
We seem to have a good bunch right in NYC. Add nearby counties and NJ, and it gets to be a crowd.

Not sure yet if those dates work for me, but the general idea is certainly appealing.

Pick a cuisine, then narrow down from the hundreds of locations where it's available.

Thanks, Dr. Chill.  We'd been looking for someone to start up a NY area Mudstock!

The list only includes those who wrote an Introduction.  So there are many other members in the NY area who, like Steve, are not on the list.

Once you have a firm date, we'll mention the NY Mudstock in the January Newsletter....which goes out to all Forum members.  We'll probably be sending it by January 4th.

We've found that people have been very willing to drive to our Mudstocks....one person drove 4 hours each way!

Here's the link to the States List:

From NYC, that extends out to Maryland, Pennsylvania, Vermont. Welcome everyone!

I'm in PA, but the Port Authority is the first stop on the bus route from the closest town.  So count me as a possibility, please.

The inauguration will be on TV, right? We'll want to be watching, I'm sure. How would we arrange that?

There are places that have TVs, like sports bars for instance. I'm thinking it would be a great time to meet. The swearing is noon Saturday.

I am a misplaced New Yorker now living in Central NJ so a trip into "the city" is nothing for me.

Fawnskin,

The DC mudstock date has not been set yet, but as the chief organizer of it, I would guess that Mon, Jan 19 is looking the most likely at this point (and I hope that means you'll join us!  Cheesy ).

My impression of the NY mudstock was that it would be on Jan 20 to watch the Inauguration on TV in a public place.

I will be in DC for the Inauguration, but I hope there's another NY mudstock at some later date because I would love to attend.

yes, i'm up on the dc mudswap, but thought that i'd spread myself around the coast a bit and try for the nyc mudstock also, there.

you can understand my confusion if you read upthread and see that drchill mentioned a saturday swearing in.  not that i'm against swearing on a saturday, mind you.

Oh, yes, I missed the mention of a Saturday swearing in.

Perhaps for the record we should state right now:

Inauguration Day is Tuesday, January 20, 2009!

Monday, January 19 is MLK Jr. Day, which in DC is a federal holiday, so it makes for a 4-day weekend for many. I hope we can get a good group at a Monday DC mudstock!

And Fawnskin, I bet if you throw out a time and a place, you could round up some mudpuppies for Saturday. There are a bunch in NY.

Sorry for the confusion.  I Need Coffee!

the 20th is a Tuesday. huh. But I Googled it ! Huh?
Please weigh in on when people would like to do it.

I have yet to do some reconnaissance, but I'm looking for something near Penn station. Preferably a nice 'sports bar' with no sport going on when we meet.
I expect to have an eyes on report by this weekend.

Then we can nail down a date and time.

I'll try not to pick superbowl Sunday... heh
