Mission Accomplished!
Tee-hee.
Seriously though, I'm impressed. Unfortunately, I'm also unavailable those weekends as I'll either be in or returning from Israel.
Hope it goes well. (Usta work around 6th & 23rd about 10 years ago.)

Sure wish I was physically up to making the trek to the BIG city! Just make sure that lots of pictures and a full report end up on Mudflats.

I'm hoping to get some more confirmations for the 17th from you Mudpuppies. I noticed Gina saying the 3rd week is not okay ( 17th) , so, I'd move it to the 24th if that means more people can come.
Tell me what you think.
So far, it seems like a half dozen people may be coming. I'm thinking we can get a much bigger group.
Lets do it!
It'll be great fun.

Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then.. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then. Obama will be president then.

it looks like my mudstock hopping will have to bypass nyc.
although we will be in the city on the 12th, we are leaving on the 17th for d.c.
it would be nice to know where the meeting place is to be however, just in case i go back.

I'd -like- to set a firm date , like Jan 24th. Mustang Harry's on 7th ave just South of Penn Station, for lunch,
but I haven't gotten a clear picture of people's availability or preference.
I can just decide, but I'd like to pick a day that works for the most people.
I find some of the comments confusing, so I'll ask again.
For those who want to come, What days will work for you? When CAN you make it?
17th 18th 24th 25th ?
Do you have a time preference?
Please weigh in...
I'll firm up the date by Sunday night.
I'd also like to suggest a theme:
"We (now) have a competent president !"

Okay! NYC Mudstock !
Jan 24th noon at Mustang Harry's on 7th Ave just south of Penn Station NYC
That should be convenient for New Yorkers, and other travelers as well.
We will have a new President.
We can celebrate! We can say with a straight face, Our president is smart !
We can celebrate our new congress and a new democrat from Alaska.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all !

Dr. Chill (and others) -- your mission is to take pictures and post about it!
We're there with you in spirit, too, also.

NYC Mudstock Report-
At one o’clock as was asking myself did I get the wrong “Mustang” Seems the same owner owns Mustang Harry & Mustang Sally. He plans on opening a Jack’s & a Jill’s
“Bubbles” came in saying I thought it was the other Mustang…
She wasn’t shy about asking patrons – are you a “Mudpuppy?”
I had Lots of cancellations days before so I wasn’t sure who had committed and who was still coming. She was the only other one to show up - at the right Mustang, anyway.
So, I’m not happy about the turnout. Bubbles said NYers shouldn’t be expected to get up so – EARLY. (Note to self – noon is early.)
But it was nice to hear her go on about what she likes about AKM’s writing in particular and Mudflats in general – a refuge of sanity. (McCain & Palin – come to think of it ‘crazy’ is concise)
And thanks for the drink- 'Bubbles' ! We chatted for almost 2 hours.
I enjoyed our meeting, and we exchanged numbers. I think she’ll like my wife. She reminds me of her friends.
I took some pictures. She said I looked ‘White.’ (Yes I am.) We laughed the choice of words. I look pasty spotted lumpy and unappealing… I really don’t want to post those ones.
: - /
So, I suppose I could have handled the rsvps better, gauged NYers preferences better, or maybe it was just a bad choice of a time and day; and it was Cold and windy.
Anyway we engaged other patrons in conversation, and they seemed interested in checking out Mudflats.
I read Mudflats daily, and will continue to support it as long as AKM keeps writing…
So maybe I'll try again. Maybe someone with natural party planning talent would like to help.

Oh, DrChill, I'm sorry you didn't get a big crowd, though it sounds like you and Bubbles had a nice time.
There were about 4 or 5 no-shows for DC Mudstock, with no word of canceling beforehand - I guess it's just the nature of these events.
It's definitely worth trying again at some point, maybe in the spring when some out-of-towners might be more willing to venture into NYC.

dear akm and fellow pups.i met dr.chill at mustang harrys over the weekend. it was a beautiful day. a bit chilly but the sun was bright. the restaraunt was very nice and the barman knew how to pour a nice irish coffee[delish].the food looked and smelled great. i had the onion soup and was happy with my choice. Chill and i talked and talked. we talked about sending a few dollars to mudflats to support 'our' blog.we talked about efforts to help sustain the rural people of alaska.and we talked about our own idiot governor,[bless his heart].we laughed about our cats and chatted about our families and made friends with perfect strangers.so, thank you Chill for lovely afternoon. the venue was perfect.the food was tasty.the Jameson irish whiskey was smoother than baby's bottom.the time was right.i was there.Chill was there. i hope to meet Nana,Chill's wife at the next mudstock nyc....love bubbles
