Mudstock: NorCal (or All CA?)

We had such a wonderful time at the
SoCal Mudstock
!
Let's use the momentum to kick start another CA Mudstock. We have a large group of people in Northern California who were unable to join us....so a NoCal is a must!
It would also be great if we could muster enough interest in an all CA Mudstock...perhaps an overnight trip to a rustic (and inexpensive), centrally located, meeting grounds?
Post Inauguration, so we can do some community planning and commit to some action?
Sign up here if you're interested....and give us your ideas!

I would love a Mudstock in Northern CA.
Has anyone started planning this?

Why is it that every time I see Sarah Palin on TV she keeps looking around like someone is going to hand her a bouquet of roses, put a crown on her head and give her a sash that says, " Queen of America" 2009?

Lnonblonde:
The planning starts right here!
We'll have a Mudflats newsletter going out the first week of January....and that goes out to all 1500+ members. We can announce the NorCal, or AllCal Mudstock then.
In the meantime, start thinking about dates, location, etc. and post your ideas here!

Oooo....I love it, fawnskin!
Big Sur is a drivable distance from most places in CA....and offers many options...camping, hotels, lodges...
....and it's gorgeous there!

Nighthawk and I would most certainly consider attending a NoCal or AllCal Mudstock. Fawnskin's idea of Big Sur sounds great. But we'd be open to other suggestions as well. We particularly like the idea of places that offer a variety of lodging options -- unless we could find a big house to rent for the weekend.
Come on you NoCal Mudpups, we had such a great time at the SoCal Mudstock. We'd definitely be up for an encore, but it'd be ever so much more fun if y'all join in.
Wonder if there's a church camp or similar that we could invade for a weekend....

Gini: I agree with you for possible other locales. But it sounds like it willl be a blast.
By the way how are you and Nighthawk? Tell him that James and I say hello and that we are doing fine here. Got to get James a Mudflat's name.

Definitely up for an AllCal Mudstock! Suggested in the SoCal thread: somewhere near wineries and hot tubs! A NoCal/SoCal group of friends of mine met in Cambria. I know a great house to rent (great price), there is a not so expensive oceanfront motel a few doors away, and other lodgings up and down Moonstone Beach. Wineries in Paso Robles are a short drive away. Rates generally are lower in Cambria during the winter months. Another idea in Cambria: Cambria Pines Lodge - not by the water but I think they have meeting rooms, restaurant/bar on site, hot tubs and pool, walking distance to town. Keep on planning!

I stayed in the Cambria Pines Lodge in the 1990 time frame, and had the best breakfast of my life in a restuarant named Robin's. They stopped serving breakfast after that, but boy, it was delicious!
Catwoman is right that it's a good midpoint and close to some wonderful wineries.

Hi Mudpups!
Cambria sounds great! The last two times Teri and I have been up there we stayed at the Cambria Pines Lodge - great rates now. We might even plan a group tour to the Hearst Castle. You can't go to Cambria without seeing the castle. Depending on what time of year this happens, there are Friday evening tours that are really nice too.

Scott

Is this a classic case of South vs. North?
Looks like we'll have to send out an email to our Northerners to rouse them!
Either Big Sur or Cambria is good for me....although the weather is a little milder in Cambria, no?
What about the timeframe? How about picking a time before the end of March?
(Notice I'm good with the questions......not so much with the answers!)
