it's been on my to do list to get over here for awhile now.  Have been here for awhile (though I've been more quiet than usual of late) and have just never done the introduce yourself.  I've been in Alaska since '92 and have considered it home almost from the beginning.  My husband was born and raised here (I met him on my first day here!)  This is such an amazing community to be a part of...Thanks AKM and All....I enjoy trying to keep up with so many thoughts and insights and fun...  Welcome Welcome QuiltAK.  Glad you've spoken up.  What sort of quilts do you favor?  I absolutely LOVE the Japanese take on patchwork!

Gini...I actually recently finished a quilt with some Yummy japanese fabrics that are 'oh so gorgeous!'  But I usually work exclusively in Batiks...I'm addicted to them, I'm afraid.  I usually design my own quilts or if I do follow a pattern I end up altering it because I just can't leave well enough alone!  I do a lot of needle turn applique and the more different fabrics in a quilt the better!  I am currently working on a wine cellar for my husband, and a fireweed quilt, and I've got about 6 others that I'm behind on actually quilting...it's just to hard to keep up with all the ideas...  I also love a simple patchwork....one of our family favorites is one my husbands grandmother made - it's from old 70's polyester scraps!!  One can never have to much fabric....

QuiltAK

First - Welcome!

Second - when my husband and I made quilts years ago, we also did a few in Batik (we lived in Paris and could go to any fabric store and find african batik). Beautiful!

You should, if it's not already done, go onto the Crafter's Corner Thread and let us know what you do!

 Welcome

How romantic to meet your husband on your first day in Alaska...

Please post pic's of your handiwork!  I know we would all love to see.  In my youth, I once tried to make a living off of sewing custom clothing Tongue.  Didn't work out but I do love to sew and I treasure my grandmother's and great-grandmother's quilts that I so proudly use!
