Hi, My name is TimC and I am a political addict.

Everyone:  Hi TimC

I live in Portland, Oregon and have been involved in politics at various times and in various roles since college (25 years).  I was shocked by the Palin pick and found this website early on in looking into her background.  I remember being pleased with her primary victory for governor, disappointed that she beat Knowles, but at least consoled that she would shake up the old boys network.  Only when I saw her speak and read up on her 18 month record as governor did I get completely creeped out.

I visited Alaska about 5 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.  In about a week, I think we covered just about every paved road in Alaska.  Well, maybe not, but visting Denali, Wrangell-St. Elias, and Kenai Fjords were definite highlights.  Over the next several years I hope to get back to Alaska many times, but particularly to see Glacier Bay, for summer solstice and to see the Northern Lights at their peak.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Tim.

Placer County is a hotbed of Wingnut country.  I'm in the minority here.  Call me an extreme fiscal conservative, and social moderate.  I'm 50 something, dabble in grape growing, and winemaking in my spare time.  Came across this site, and thankful for the many links user post, as it helps get insight, and information.  I use these information sources to try to convince some of my hardheaded, winghut friends to open their eyes just a bit.

Hi mrsleep.  It is strange to think there are wingnuts in large numbers in Northern California.  But then, I suppose you did have Pombo as a congressman up there until 2006.  I love the Sierra foothills and enjoyed a drive up CA 49 a few years ago.

I can't figure out how to post to this thread without replying to someone else's post and I'm a geek.  Just proves that I'm losing my mind and/or the world's gone nuts.

Anyway.  I'm Connie - just your run-of-the-mill neurotic alive and well in West Virginia.  West Virginia has been declared a battleground state - our 5 electoral votes are of paramount importantance, it seems.  Frankly, I will eat piclkled beets for the remainder of November if Obama wins here, but I've been feeling pessimistic of late.

Obama is the very first presidential candidate that I will vote *for* - in the previous 6 presidential elections, I've voted against one candidate more than I voted for the other.  I'm kind of excited about it.  If you're interested, I wrote about my Obama conversion at http://wvfurandroot.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/places-of-great-and-good-interest/  There are pictures of the Obama Pajama Party at http://www.obamapajamaparty.com Smiley

Thanks!  I thought the "new topic" button was going to produce an entirely new topic under the Coffee Lounge Heading rather than a sub-topic under Introduce Yourself.  Heavens!  It's too late for me to be trying to word anything.  But thank you.
