Originally from Massachusetts (almost born in Texas thus almost forfeiting at least 20 IQ points) Moved to Alaska in the 80's cuz ,well lets face it It's WAY too easy to be a liberal in Mass. so I came to where it was a challenge to be forward thinking , Good ol' Alaska!

It's even more fun to be a liberal in Wasilla! Howdy folks.  Grin

I Need Coffee! Awesome to be here, thank you very much. Coming to you live from Louisiana. No attachment to Alaska to speak of except that I was totally disgusted by Palin the moment she opened her mouth at GOP convention. That "CANCER" needs to be cut off the face of the U.S.!

Orignally from Cheshire, England (same county as English Rose, coincidentally, who's on the previous page). Now in the north of Sweden... sounds like it's a smaller version of Alaska, but more liberal!

Anchorage, Alaska, in a very political job, so I have to be careful what I say, but this forum has been great to keep tabs on what the rest of the world is thinking about this mess.

I was drawn to the Mudflats by the video scenes of great crowds, their feets on the streets, demonstrating that there were OTHER voices in Alaska than those we were hearing. What a relief. Thank you all. Huzzah!

I have family in Alaska but never made it across the continent to visit them, although I would like to. My vacation budget is a little (ahem) diverted right now but I would love to visit Alaska sometime.

I was born in California and thought I knew the whole state from top to bottom, but I never came across Victorville, what direction is that from LA? I was only in LA once, I remember coming down the Grapevine and seeing LA in the distance and I actually got scared. I wasn't even there yet and I was already in a panic to get out of there.
No offense to LA or the people there, I get that way when I approach any big city, that's just toooo much concrete and waaayyy too many people. Even going into small towns or big stores makes me feel uneasy. When I went to the McCain rally my heart was beating so hard and fast I thought I would have a heart attack before I got out of there.

I also live in Soldotna.  Been in Alaska for 47 years!  When I was growing up and going to Kenai Central High School I thought Alaska was pretty progressive.  Now that I think back on it, I don't know if Alaska was progressive or if I was just a dumb kid!  Shocked  I have always been pretty liberal thinking and get the feeling, when talking with my good friends about politics and Palin, that I am some sort of pariah out in the wilderness, and that I must be the ONLY one like me anywhere in the state.  It sure does get tiring hearing the same old right wing propaganda coming out of everyone's mouths, especially when I just cannot believe anyone (let alone friends of mine!) would actually believe the stuff they're saying.

Gets a little depressing every now and then.  Thank goodness I now have a place to go to read like minded views  Grin

Sorry Cartoon Pig Dog:
That I had logged off when you asked what direction Victorville was from Los Angeles. Victorville is North of Los Angeles going toward Barstow. You would pass through San Bernardino, California and it is a city that is fastly growing. Actually, I was born in a small town in Canton, Mississippi, but my parents moved to Saint Louis, Missouri when I was three months old. I grew up in Saint Louis and later after I was married, my husband and I moved to Los Angeles in 1974. We moved from Los Angeles to San Bernardino, California in 1999 and just moved to Victorville, California about a month ago. Victorville is a growing city and has a lot of concrete so you probably wouldnt like it. But I am a city girl.

Hello from Bedford, Texas! I live in the concrete jungle known as the Metroplex, five miles west of D-FW International Airport, twenty miles west of Dallas, twenty miles northeast of Fort Worth, and about fifteen miles north of Arlington.

I probably found Mudflats while searching for more information about Anne Kilkenny and the former Wasilla librarian who Sarah Palin harassed. As a school teacher/librarian (now retired), I generally find that people who attempt to censor books, or even think about it, are intolerant of the views and rights of others.

Thank you so much for providing this informative and entertaining site. Gosh darn it, you Alaskans certainly have some very talented writers! (wink-nod)
