Adopt a Gray Wolf In Sarah Palin's Name!

Ok folks, here is a fun activity for those of you who want to release a little pent up activist energy.
It's time again to leverage Sarah Palin's greatest redeeming quality - her ability to raise money for the causes that oppose her philosophies. She is the ultimate Anti-Brand in the Political Blogosphere and here is the pattern of self-destruction she wreaks whenever she opens her pie hole.
First,
Sarah joined McCain on the RNC ticket and
threw the election to Obama
.
Next,
she espoused her ultra-conservative views regards women's rights to make personal decisions during pregnancy. She had already drawn the ire of Women's Rights proponents by
initiating the Wasilla Police Department's system of charging sexual assault victims for rape kits and forensic examinations
. Outraged activists then ran a blog/e-mail campaign and assisted Planned Parenthood by raising $1,000,000 in her name - and got all those "Thank You!" cards delivered to her!
And now, we can Adopt a Wolf in Sarah Palin's Name!
It's very simple. Just go to either the World Wildlife Fund
http://www.worldwildlife.org/ogc/species_SKU.cfm?cqs=CTGW
or
Even better, go to
Defenders of Wildlife
where you can also sign a petition expressing your opposition to the wolf slaughter being conducted by Sarah Palin and pals in Alaska.
https://secure.defenders.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&page=UserAction&id=1329&s_einterest=C3C4
AND Adopt a Wolf!
https://secure.defenders.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=wagc_graywolf
It's much easier actually to make your anonymous gift donation here!
Be sure to have Sarah's shipping information ready to fill in when needed.
Sarah Palin
1140 W Parks Hwy
Wasilla AK 99654
It's that easy.
And it fulfills the pattern. It's time to complete the Hat Trick.
Please make a donation and adopt a wolf in Sarah Palin's name!

lol, I wish we would have thought to keep a monthly list of all Palin's drama, there's just so dang much of it, I can't keep it all straight, lol.......anybody want to take up the challenge? start a new thread on it? that we can add to daily, as it seems lately. Perhaps someone with extra time can go back and list previous months drama?
She is just so hard to believe.

Seems a little disingenuous to donate to an organization that does little to protect wolves in the U.S., and is not behind the campaign to publicize Palin's connection to the aerial wolf killing up here in Alaska. The organization behind this effort is Defenders of Wildlife, and any donations should appropriately go to them. You can see the Ashley Judd video on their site, as well as Adopt a Wolf in Palin's name.

And no, I don't work for them.

I think disingenous is a bit strong in your choice of words, there was no attempt here to trick anyone or mis-represent one organization against the other. And I don't work for either.
But you are absolutely correct, Defenders of Wildlife is the organization that produced the recent Ashley Judd video. My hat is off to them as well!
Both Defenders of Wildlife and World Wildlife Fund are great champions of protectiing endangered wildlife and habitats around the globe. Neither organization is focused solely on protecting wolves. Both cover a wide spectrum of wildlife and environmental preservation issues.
They are different somewhat in how they get things done. World Wildlife Fund (
http://www.worldwildlife.org/
) raised aproximately $200m in 2008, whereas Defenders of Wildlife raised around $36m according to their website (
http://www.defenders.org/
).
Defenders of Wildlife was started in 1947 out of humanitarian outrage at the use of vicious leg traps on coyotes and other fur-bearing animals being "harvested" in this way. They boast of 150 full-time employees and over 500,000 members nation-wide, so it looks to me as if Defenders is more of a US-focused concern, although they do have international offices and projects. A distinguishing feature is they recruit celebrities and aim for higher-profile press releases such as the Ashley Judd video calling out Palin, so perhaps they have more of an "activist" culture.
World Wildlife Fund has more of a global reach due to their International beginnings - Prince Philip and Dwight D. Eisenhower were instrumental in the creation of the organization in 1961. Their larger size and global footprint also enables more long-term projects in conservationism. I believe they are more apt to try to influence government regulators through legislation than though grass-roots activism.
I do thank you AKWolfhugger for bringing up Defenders of Wildlife into the discussion on this thread.
AKWolfhugger, would you care to provide information on how to anonymously Adopt a Wolf in Sarah Palin's name through their website? World Wildlife Fund was very cooperative in providing the capability and instructions on how to make sure that personal information was not exposed when making the donation in someone else's name.
That way we'd then have details for two excellent choices of organizations to go through when Adopting a Wolf in Sarah Palin's Name.
The more ways to reach out the better!
Here is another site called Alaska Wolf Kill (
http://www.alaskawolfkill.com/
) that contains very specifc information on the problem in Alaska and how aerial hunting programs might spread to other states. Most importantly it tells about legislation proposed by
Representative George Miller
(Dem, California) designed to close the loopholes in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act that Alaskan Governors past and present have exploited to justify their activities.
The Protect America's Wildlife Act, according to this site, will terminate Alaska's aerial hunting programs and prevent other states from pursuing aerial hunting programs as well.
This video (
http://current.com/items/88811075/end_aerial_wolf_hunting.htm
) which was released in January 2008 and describes how Palin has spent over $400,000 of Alaskan's tax dollars to promote aerial hunting, is part of their contribution to fighting Governor Palin's active support of this bloodsport.
There were many who spoke out before Ashley Judd to denounce aerial wolf hunting, and let's hope many will come after. There is nothing disingenous about supporting any of these organizations or related activities designed to stop the slaughter.
Let's all work together in a positive way to bring an end to this horrific practice.

Well, the folks at World Wildlife Fund have asked me to post some corrections to the instructions I hastily posted earlier.
I apologize to everyone for pointing out that their online donation system does not prevent -- it still actually allows -- donations to be placed with billing information that does not correspond directly to donors' credit card information.
The below are the correct methods that WWF wants you to use for making anonymous wolf adoptions via their website in another person's name.
For tax, legality, and data integrity reasons, WWF must ask that donors use their real names and addresses when filling out the donation forms. Please do not use false information of any kind when making your Adopt A Wolf Donation.
Donations using false information will not be eligible for a tax receipt. If donors want to make an adoption in Sarah Palin’s name but do it truly anonymously, WWF asks that you use one of the following two options:
Option 1) Make the donation online with accurate and complete name and billing information. You may fill out the forms as if you are adopting for yourself, or you may check the box “This item is a gift for someone else” and enter info in the Bonus Online Premiums section if you want to send those items and a personal message to Sarah Palin via email.
If you do choose this option, check the box to “Send this item to your address” in the next column. You will then receive the package at the address you provided, but there will be NO letter for the recipient (as it is understood that if the package is mailed to the donor’s address they will be giving the item directly to the recipient and thus do not need a letter). You would have to forward the package on to the destination and include a note of your own if you would like one included.
Or -
Option 2) Donors can mail in a check donation with information including adoption species, adoption $ amount/level, recipient’s name and information (Sarah Palin in this case), and clearly state they want it to be an anonymous gift.
Together with your donation, you can print out an order form online and mail that in.
http://www.worldwildlife.org/how/WWFBinaryitem10842.pdf
.
Again, please keep in mind that if a donor chooses to make an anonymous gift, they will not be eligible to receive a tax receipt for the donation.
Now here is the most important part of the information I was asked to pass on.
WWF appreciates your support of their conservation mission and your understanding of policy requirements in taking donations. As a non-profit organization WWF are not able to endorse or renounce political candidates or policies and any breech on this matter as this can cause WWF to lose their 501(c)3 status. WWF wish to make it it clear that WWF is not engaging in or soliciting a partnership to conduct a campaign directed at Sarah Palin (or any other public figure) in any way.
World Wildlife Fund has rules they must abide by and I must ask that everyone respect their position. They fight for worthy causes and I am still a supporter of their many good works.
And again, here is my most sincere apology to all.
Again, I personally apologize for any confusion I may have caused by giving anyone the impression that World Wildlife Fund was asserting any opposition to the Aerial Wolf Hunting that Sarah Palin so militantly promotes.
However,
as AKwolfhugger earlier pointed out, you can also go to Defender's of Wildlife to make a similar donation. Defenders of Wildlife are certainly more enthusiastic in sending their message of opposition to aerial wolf hunting directly to Sarah Palin.
I do not know of the exact procedures to use on the Defenders of Wildlife site, but I am now a little more motivated to find out if it is a smoother process, and will have an update posted here shortly.
I tip my hat to Akwolfhugger, apparently "disingenous" can indeed be applied here. I stand humbled.

The Alaska Ear reports the following:
http://www.adn.com/news/politics/alaska_ear/story/706282.html
Quote
It seems that people wanting to support the efforts of the World Wildlife Fund against Alaska's hunting and predator control policies have been making donations and directing the fund to send the fuzzy stuffed animals one gets in return to Gov. Palin.
An earwig in a position to actually know something once in a while says Bristol called her mom last week to report three more stuffed wolves had shown up at the house.
Mom wondered (perhaps not sincerely?) what they might send the WWF fans as a thank-you for the stuffed wolves.
Bristol suggested packages of moose meat might be just the thing.
Bristol, honey, please send any extra moose meat you have to Nunam Iqua for me, ok dear?

Ditto. Minus the "honey". Or, you could, you know, sponsor shipping to the villages. Or sponsor fuel.
Or stop shooting wolves.
Of course, a thank you card's always nice, too. Also.
