ILLEGITIMI NON CARBORUNDUM

« on: March 14, 2009, 08:42:18 am »

I have been an onliner (chatter) for a few years and met many folks online. My main interests are politics and current events. I am a owner and host in a political chatroom on Buzzen. I was urged to visit Mudflats by a dear friend who lives in the Wasilla area, she is a member here and we have chatted together for years. This fits right into my interests. I am looking forward to some great discussions on this forum, (once I figure out how to navigate all this stuff).
               Live well and prosper.... Cheers!

Welcome lunaluz!!  We lived in Everett for many years.  Saw a lot of changes to the town but what drove us to the midwest was the traffic.  We first arrived there in 1977 and stayed until 1992.  We still have two daughters and their families there.  Was just there in October.  Hope you enjoy mudflats!!

Thank- you all for the gracious welcome! Yes, Everett and the northend in Western Washington has changed, the cost of living is sinful,(although not as sinful as what Anne Strongheart has to deal with). The traffic majorly bites the proverbial bag. This place is the first place I have ever lived that really felt like home. I feel blessed as many do when they find a place they can call home. Visiting my chat sister in Wasilla is high on my list, I've always wanted to see proof that the misquitoes in Alaska are bigger than the ones I was raised with Minnesota. We tethered small dogs and toddlers to a building so they wouldn't be carried off without a fight.

Greetings!  I have a bunch of relatives out in the Seattle area (most people from Minnesota do) and my uncle worked at Boeing - Everett plant - for many years.  Their whole neighborhood in Lake Hills at one point was Boeing employees.  They all came out to Seattle in the 50's and settled in.   I always wondered how my aunt could drive just about anywhere in the Seattle area and not get lost.  She said "You have to remember.  I was here when they started BUILDING these roads."

Does Boeing has the same "feel" now that HQ is in Chicago (I think) rather than Seattle area?  It's been such a Washington institution for years and years.

How close is your nearest Burgermaster?  Every time we come out to Seattle we have to get to Burgermaster and munch down.
