"Give America a choice. We support health care reform that allows individual Americans to choose either a universally available public health care option like Medicare or for-profit private insurance. A public option is the only way to guarantee health care for all Americans and its inclusion is non-negotiable.

"Any legislation without the choice of a public option is only insurance reform and not the health care reform America needs."

Insurance companies & HMOs are determined to prevent true health care reform.  Moveon.org & Howard Dean are taking them on.  He needs 250,000 signatures before he presents the petition to Congress.  Please sign and help circulate the petition.

This is a step in the right direction.

However, I believe that insurance companies and HMOs must be done away with.  They are in business to make money, not spend it on your health.  As long as you are healthy they are perfectly happy to collect and collect and collect your money via premiums.  Which they happily raise each year well above the rate of inflation.  They are not that happy about spending any of it on actual health care and will often try to stall, cancel, or otherwise delay tests or procedures that are needed.  Hopefully you will either shut up or die, there are thousands more behind you wanting to be insured.

It is all about the bottom line folks.
