do I smell...BACON?????

« on: April 06, 2009, 02:33:15 pm »

I've been a lurker for more than a year and thought I'd finally get around to registering.
A bit about me: a grandma, a working farmer (fruit & veg for farmers market), share my farm with DH (an occasional power lineman when Mother Nature strikes), five dogs (one is a 100+ pound Appalachian foxhound named Maggie but also fondly known as "Moosegirl"), five cats, three Nubian dairy goats, four peacocks and a couple dozen chickens.
And, being in Kentucky, I am extremely familiar with psychotic politicians!

thanks Lani!
Since it's been raining buckets here since Sunday night (supposed to turn to snow shortly) the farm AND house are complete mudpits at the moment (gotta love my bogboots on days like this)!
I'll dig out a photo of Moosegirl...she was soooo small and cute when she arrived (faced off with a rooster at the barn door who was refusing to allow her inside). The vet said, well she's some kind of beagle mix and won't get much bigger (she was eight pounds at the time). I gave him eyes askance and he said "ok, I know the paws are scary". I said the paws are a promise; and I was correct!

 Welcome justafarmer.

Sounds like you've got quite a menagerie there  Smiley   As Lani says, do post some pictures we'd love to see them.

Welcome justafarmer & critters!  Send some of that good Kentucky growing soil up here - it rained so much last summer and the temps stayed so low, my poor tomatoes never got ripe!

Welcome to the mud!!

Welcome! Good to see more folks from across the country - especially those who live close to our old stomping grounds.  Welcome
