While there is a case to be made for security and privacy, there is an equally valid case for transparency and public connectedness. In the developing cyber-culture, celebrity and power are linked to availability and if you are set to "private" to "protect" your identity - you effectively do not exist.  The interface between public and private is a new frontier.
