My name is Laurie...55 years old from northern Manitoba Canada.

I have a huge interest in all things political.  I have been a dedicated voter ever since I was old enough...and involve myself by meeting candidates, asking questions, volunteering and working the polls on election day.

For most of my life I have been a Progressive Conservative, however that changed a few years back when the Alliance/Reform party merged with the PC's.  That tasty little morsel brought the religious right into our midst in a way than they ever were previously. 

Your elections are of the utmost importance to Canadians...and just about every other country in the world.  I was at first confused about Sarah Palin, because I had never heard of her.  Imagine that...she sits on our border too..lol.

Anyhow...I did a google search the first day, and found Mudflats.  I havent looked back.

I am thrilled at the information AKM provides...and I am even more thrilled with the wonderful discourse that takes place here.

Hi Laurie,

Spent part of a summer in northern Manitoba about 30 years ago, canoeing w/ a guy who is now my husband. Except for the black flies (and my guy coming down w/ mono) it was a wonderful trip.

Please let us know about the upcoming Canadian elections from time to time.
