Wow, she really is filling out. She's a real beauty!  Smiley

I think rescued dogs know that they've been rescued and are always appreciative of it. We stopped at a place near the Grand Canyon once where you can see the sacred white buffalo. They had a large dog there that they had rescued. He started on his own being the guide who would take you out the door and around to see the animals and then would bring you back into building when you were done. It was amazing.  Smiley

We had a golden retriever that we got from a no-kill shelter, but I think she always knew that we had rescued her nonetheless.

for perspective...DH is 5'5"....
but just LOOK at those feet Glory has!
She's already putting away at least 25 pounds of dry dogfood a week (she's eating more than the other five dogs put together!) ...don't know that I can afford to feed her!  LOL

distressing news about Glory...
apparently she was shot about 4-5 days ago (which explains why she has been missing...we just assumed she found her way back to her original home).
She showed up at dawn on Monday with a seriously shattered and mangled front leg. She had surgery this afternoon and, sadly, her leg had to be amputated (but we regular untrained vet peeps kinda figured that would be the outcome given what her leg looked like at dawn...multiple compound fractures and I'll not describe the overall condition of what used to be a leg).
Anyway...the veterinarian called this evening and said the surgery went amazingly well (the surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, but the vet's heart was breaking and he did it this afternoon/evening).
Glory was awake almost immediately, standing up in her cage, wagging her tail...hopefully she can come home on Wednesday.
Glory is now officially a member of OUR pack!

I couldn't bear to look at her this morning...hubby's description was horrible enough.
hubby came into the bedroom and asked me "how much do we really want to keep Glory?"
I knew something was really bad and needed immediate emergency medical attention.
We don't have much spare money, but hubby and I both took what we've been saving up for stuff and took care of Glory

This just breaks a persons heart.  She is so beautiful and has already survived so much (starvation, lost or abandonment).  What a spirit though, wagging her tail and happy.

She has a wonderful, loving pack. Smiley

warm thoughts and hugs back atcha....
so far we've managed to pay the vet bill ... and the vet has HUGELY discounted the bill (he's in love with her too

I thought it would be at the very least $1,000...but the vet is trying to keep it somewhere to $300-400.

Hubby kicked in his travel money to visit a friend in Pennsylvania and I put in my savings for new eyeglasses.

Glory is such a sweetie and worth every cent.

I am so glad to hear Glory is doing well
She is a beatifull dog and although I have not commented I have been following her story
I really hope that your state has animal cruelty laws and they catch the BLeep BLEEP that shot her.
I once had a german shorthair pointer that I rescued from the SPCA and Glory reminded me of my lovely Mercedes, she was also malnourished and full of sores when I adopted her.

What a beautiful being Glory is.
It sounds as though she will adapt to three-leggedness well.
Bet the distance-healing of all the love directed toward her
and her new family will help.
Blessings to you all,
