Well, if AKM gets the scholarship and is indeed in Pittsburgh, PA somewhere around August 15, 2009 at the Netroots Conference at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center (which is just about four blocks from the very spot on Earth where the World's First Mudstock was held!), then I had better start gathering some long range planning information right now just in case!

I see various posts from people on the Netroots vote thread indicating that there may be many Mudpuppies here in the Lower 48 that might want to come here to Pittsburgh to meet with our beloved AKM in person at this amazing unfolding opportunity.

Since I am the keeper of the sacred local Mudpuppy email list which we have used for Pittsburgh Mudstock I and Pittsburgh Mudstock II, I am now launching creating the email list for Pittsburgh AKM Mudstock (Pittsburgh Mudstock III) in August 2009.

The lovely "Upper Room" place where we have held the first two Mudstocks here can hold up to 64 people, but somehow I am thinking many more people than that might want to come to this event if it indeed happens.

So I am asking anyone thinking about traveling to Pittsburgh, PA in August 2009 for this potentially amazing event, to begin to contact me via e-mail at HamletsMillMudFlats at gmail dot com so we can start to get a picture of the magnitude of those wishing to travel here.

I will start to look at potential venues we can consider based upon the banquet accommodations needed for the size of the turnout. I will also assemble information on where you can book hotel or motel accommodations for yourself, your family, or traveling group should this all develop over the next three months. We must begin to plan ahead for such an amazing event!

So please help me begin the process by getting in touch with me directly by email at the above link.

Since we organized and held the World's First Mudstock here in Pittsburgh because we had so many Mudpuppies in this region, I just love the Divine Geometry that we may get the chance to hold the World's First AKM Mudstock too here in the Lower 48! From our first two efforts we now know how to do this and we can do it!

AKM here in person! The very thought of it is so joyous that it would be wonderful if we could have a STAGGERING HUGE TURNOUT for her majestic physical presence here in the Lower 48!

So, eveyone even just thinking about traveling across the country to such an event to be held here in Pittsburgh, PA somewhere around August 15th, 2009, please get in touch with me via e-mail IMMEDIATELY and start to post your thoughts as the Worldwide Mudflats Community on this three month developing thread.

Hi HM,

Obviously, you know you can count me in. I have already talked to AKM about doing something here in Pgh. I'd really appreciate any help and backup, at the very least, as my granddaughter (first grandchild) is due to arrive around the same time. And going back to the original scene of the crime sounds great since it's so close to where she will be. But we might need a larger venue. You did a great job setting up the first two.

I'll also be in touch by e-mail.  LOL

Hi Hamlet Mills

I hope that it goes without saying that you can count on me for any and all assistance that you may need in this venture. This is great! As futurexpat? said, we are expecting a grandchild in August, but that won't pose a problem. Also, since I run my company, I shouldn't have too much trouble getting time off during normal business hours ( I left the "40 hour week" behind long ago) Just let me know what you need and how I can help.

I will be just getting back from a summer trip to the Middle East, so I will be a little jet lagged, but count me in.

Update 05/18/09

Thanks to everyone who has Checked In on this Thread so far or contacted me by Forum PM or Personal Email. I have duly noted every correspondence and added email addresses to the info list. I will keep everyone notified as things develop.

This is Day Two and so far 3 Mudpuppies from other regions have contacted me and said it is very likely they will travel from other regions to Pittsburgh if we do have "Pittsburgh AKM Mudstock" (Pittsburgh Mudstock III) somewhere around August 15th, 2009. We have 17 email addresses on the local list from the two previous Greater Pittsburgh Mudstocks.

That ain't bad for Day Two after the announcement that the Greater Pittsburgh Mudpuppies are working on a plan.

I am now adding some new tunes to the Sacred Mudstock Song List.

That was then:

Albeit NOT in Juneau!  In Anchorage it's distinctly possible though:  http://community.adn.com/alaska/node/140301

Possible. We saw moose tracks while on our honeymoon somewhat out of town there.  Didn't actually see the moose itself though...

For several years now I have been volunteering as a member of the Board of Directors at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. We are just completing phase one of about a 25 million dollar expansion to the Aviary. It is a world class penguin exhibit unequaled anywhere. The exhibit opens to the public for the first time Saturday. This exhibit represents only a fraction of the overall planned expansion.

Last night before our board meeting I got to spend lots of time with the penguins.  How "cool" is this?  Cool

See video of the first new exhibit:

Enjoy!

Dear Eyes Wide Open,

I'll be in Pittsburgh June 30 and again July 8 or 9.  I'm from Erie, but live in Anchorage and will be heading back east to pick up my children and attend a family reunion.  Will you be in Anchorage at all during your trip?  BTW, I think I've been to the Aviary!

ME!!!!

Actually, I'll be helping in the planning. I've PM'd AKM and e-mailed HamletsMills. He set both of them that we've had here in Pittsburgh up.

Dear Everyone,

We are working on this as to date, time, and location based upon possible turn out numbers as soon as we get direct word from AKM as to the best dates per her conference schedule. futurexpat? is getting in direct touch with AKM as the liaison for the Pittsburgh Mudpuppy Community. I will then take it from there after relevant consultation with the list. Please keep checking this thread as firm arrangements are made. We will also have local lodging information for you as the date and place become clear. We will try to have clear information very shortly. So, again, keep watching so you can make your plans well in advance as things form up.

Best regards to all!
