 I have had the Honour of being on Mudflats now for quite sometime.........I first came here  back during the Elections and was in the chat room when it was declared that Obama was our New President.

  I occassionally post  on here and have been a frequent poster on ADN.  I have to admit i am not a very big fan of Palin.

 One thing I find of interest is on  palin support groups and websites that can not be named along with her Facebook page ( they do need to seek support for being a fan of hers and need mental help)  They Rarely if Ever question anything she does and  no matter whatthe issue is  they always  back her.

 I would much rather have a President that I do not always agree with for by not agreeing it means you see things in a different perspective, but also have the Ability and common sense to  see it from their viewpoint and learn more.

  I recently left Alaska and have been Stationed in Kodiak for a few years working the Bouys and aids to navigation in the Bering sea Dutch Harbour and along the SW coast inplaces like Port Moller and Kuskokwim.

 I have been as far as 76 degrees north and parited with  the Polar Bears.

 One of my most memorable sites ever was Watching a Polar Bear waiting above a Seal hole  and when a Seal popped out, the bear  Swatted the Seal about 25 yards thru the air then went over and started munching on it..

Greetings and Salutations to you also Actongue!   Welcome

I too prefer to have a President I do not always agree with whether in principle or method.  It is darned good to see one that is actively trying to put the best interest of the populace of this nation first over the interest and desires of big business.

 Welcome Actongue.  Wow, I envy your up close and personal relationship with polar bears.  Fascinating.   Smiley

No polar bears here; we do see black and brown bears and grizzlies, preferably through my camera's telephoto lens Shocked

 I do not have alot of Polar bear stories sad to say

While we did have some interaction  it was not alot.

 There were a few times when they came up to the Icebreaker and  wanted to see what the big red thing  was doing in their territory.  We would scare em off  .....or try atleast with   a few  m-80's or such  so that when we continued breaking ice they would not be near the ship and get hurt.

 We did have a few Ice pear lookouts when we had Ice Liberty and were able to down a few beers........Fortunately there were no bears around to share the beer with since we were rationed two or 3 beers is all.

One of my Crewmatesdid get some pics of Walruses mating which is a rare sight a Scientist told us that was on the Bridge when he took them.

   I did have some fun interaction with an orangutan though in Montivideo Uruaquay at the zoo:}
