I clicked on Memphis's link and found this strange info:
Quote
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will receive an award on Long Island Sunday from a New York group that advocates for people with developmental disabilities, a day after she is scheduled to appear in Auburn as part of the city's Founder's Day celebration.
The Independent Group Home Living Foundation says the former Republican vice presidential candidate will be honored next weekend on Long Island.

A spokesman for the governor did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment on Monday.

The organization says it is honoring Palin for her support of families who have children with special needs.

Palin herself has a special-needs child, a son with Down syndrome.

Other than giving birth to a child with disabilities (and the going rate for that is 1:6 as of 2000, according to the CDC, so big effing deal), what has SP done for kids with disabilities?  What support has she provided for families in AK or elsewhere?

She mentioned them in speeches -- not about any specific actions, more in the line of "blah-blah-blah it'd be nice to support them, blah-blah-blah."

Cats and mice are enemies. Seize them. Seize them.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything *constructive* she's done.  Closest I recall was her "silly fruit fly" speech during the election.

I thought most of the disability groups saw through her during the election?

On a “lighter note”

Maybe while she is here she can visit another historic location

Auburn Prison
Site of the first death by electric chair
Should really be up her alley

Quoth the bard:
Quote
After hearing about [Harriet] Tubman's resilience as she fought slavery, Palin called over Karcher and said, "This is something for you, anytime you go through something tough."

There oughts be someone followin' her around with a net, catchin' all these pearls before they fall to ground.  Yepper, any time you go through something tough, like that algebra final or if your sister in law gets arrested for burglary also too, just you think about slavery.

Because they're comparable.

On one hand, I shouldn't be so hard on somebody talking to a kid with a reporter following them around.  On the other hand, more mediocrity from She Who Whould Be King.

Man, she's not even Councellor of the Exchequer material.  Or Health and Human Services Material.  Or Anything With An Acronym material.  She'd probably be good at single-purpose organizing on a neighborhood level, but nothing that required sustained maintenance-type effort, because her shoes are too sexy for that job.

I took the short drive into Auburn, found a parking spot a short distance from the parade route, hid my sign in a trusty Kohl’s Shopping bag. Wanted to check out the landscape before I jumped into the muck.  I walked almost the entire parade route and took a stroll around the area in front of City Hall where She was going to speak.  Not Many signs visible.  FINALLY pay dirt two young guys with Obama Signs standing all alone everyone keeping their distance from the long haired hippy (who happen to just recently obtain his masters) Said hey guys mind if I hang out here and pulled out my sign.  The funniest things happened all of a sudden people are coming over and questioning the two Obama guys not a single word to me.  (which was fine I was a little nervous).  A guy took out a notepad and started asking them questions so one woman had to come rushing across the street to get in on the “interview”  she began berated them for making Auburn’s Founder’s Day all about politics.  She was enjoying herself until they got in her view (she was across the street).  Still NO Comments to me.  When she left the guys to the left of us began making comments and asking questions of the two Obama Guys.  Then the parade arrived I happen to be right where She and Dude got out of car and started walking She definitely saw me, got  a deer in the headlights look.  So Obama guys and I go off to the speaking area to get a good spot. Unfortunately we had a BIG bada$$ behind us making wise (stupid) cracks but I kept silent. Several women standing near me asked what my sign meant and I explained the rejection of the Stimulus (of course they didn’t know about that) and we discussed Sanford rejection of the education monies and other intelligent topics (they weren’t supporters of HER)  Mr Bada$$ continues to make LOUD  rude comments about me and the Obama guys. (he drove in all the way from Rochester to se HER) The best part was he was keeping people from getting too close to me (Don’t get near her that’s insulation on her sign you touch that and you’re gonna be itching luckily I don’t get a reaction to insulation so I could hang onto it with no problem) (Really had a vicious urge to smack him in the face with it and watch him scratch but alas I’m chicken or smart)
Finally after all the politicians speeches and presentation of gifts to the gov she began her word salad.  Russia, pitbulls, lipstick when she got to hockey Mom I had to leave Mr. Bada$$ was berating me loudly and beginning to make a scene because I held up my sign. He was really rude and I was a bit shaken.  I really wanted to ask him if he understood what point I was trying to make (I’m sure he didn’t just another rabid lemming.)

I have come to the conclusion that my sign was way to erudite for the likes of a Palin supporter.  They don’t know about the disastrous things that she is doing they are just blindly following this wonderful Christian woman (LOL)

On the way out I was informed (by a T-shirt) that I have a mental disorder, please send wine so that I may medicate myself
