Can we get something going to show our support for OBAMA, maybe there is already something organized, if there is please direct me.....I was thinking something simple such as everyone putting out a flag starting Monday August 10th and having representation at the Town Hall Meetings

Any other ideas ?   Thank you

I don't have a specific idea, but I do like the thought - I am very concerned about our Pres, and we have to work for the policies we want to see in place as hard as people worked to get him elected. He can't do it by himself - and I think he is vulnerable without our support - so you can count me in. I will keep checking the thread !

Thanks, hopefully more will join...I'm going to check a few other websites and see if there if something more going on that we can just join but maybe the week of August 17th-22nd be a new Flag Week, if everyone can put a flag of some sort out outside their home and then lets see about the town hall meetings...

Thank you

Love the idea!

I was just talking last night about these right wing nuts who may have been hired to show up at town hall meetings and disrupt them..that we have to start taking actions to counter these assaults

you can count me in.

I don't set my flag out everyday anymore, it's sometimes too hard and because I don't have proper lighting I have to take it down at sunset. But I have a neighbor who has often offered to help so I will ask him if he will help when I need it. I will commit to having it fly  everyday that Congress is out.

I will also go to every possible meeting. My republican Congressman is having one this afternoon on healthcare and I plan on attending. I'm thinking Senator Nelson (one of those Blue Dogs  Angry) will try and avoid meeting with the public as much as possible but I plan on hounding him when he comes homes!

Hi - long time no post.

Anyway, something I've been wondering for a little while - and it came up on Maddow last night - I'm wondering whether there are any plans for counter-protests for these health nuts that are shouting down town hall meetings and the like. It seems likely that's the best way to stop them, and to demonstrate that the majority of Americans are in favour of the changes (as I believe they are).

The new plan may not be perfect (and I admit I don't know all the details), but the public option seems to me to be an absolutely essential component for getting health out of the grasp of the insurance companies, and that's essential for a good health system.

C'mon, 'flatters! This is the kind of thing you're good at! I saw you guys do some amazing things during the campaign, so surely you can organise this!

My neighbor across the street has 2 flags on a pole.

Old Glory and a POW one (I think he's a Vet).

His flags aren't lit per se, but the street light on the corner of my yard makes them very visible at night.

I don't know... if a VET doesn't light it up at night, perhaps that's not a big stickler for flag fans?

Dr. Jim Dean wrote a book on the health care issue and I get periodic emails.  Got one today, in fact.  I didn't read it, so let me do so now and see what he has to say.  If anything is relevant, I'll post back here.

I sure hope so....that is exactly what I think we need to show...

most people in this country are for health care reform including the public option...

I think we must have our voices heard loud and clear as well as those shouting during the town meetings...

I just signed up to be part of a meeting on health care in my area...on the obama web site...
and will write letter to my paper

cant let these nuts get all the attention...

OK, here's the email in part.

The Right-Wing Scream Machine is back.

Who are they? So-called "Birthers" who think President Obama's birth certificate is a fake. "Teabaggers" who don't want to pay taxes for schools, police, or roads. And they're backed up by insurance industry and right-wing funded front groups who are encouraging Republicans to disrupt healthcare townhalls anyway they can throughout August.

Their goal isn't to debate or get their voices heard. Their goal is to stop any kind of civil dialogue.

I also fly the POW under the American flag, my flag pole is a 20' telescoping one, that is what makes it difficult on some days for me. I live on a corner with a street lamp but was taught the flag should never be flown at night unless directly lit. And since it was dad (a Korean combat war veteran) that taught me I don't cross that line; hell, he'd come down and haunt me forever if he saw the flags out at night!
I always chose my battles with my dad with extreme care, this isn't one I would never choose!!!  Smiley

Well, I'm no one to argue with a DAD!

Your respect for the flag (even when not ALWAYS convenient) and Dad's service are admirable.   Cheesy

I bet we'd never catch any flag of YOURS thrown over a bar stool for a photo op a la Palin! Angry

The nation's largest federation of labor organizations has promised to directly engage with boisterous conservative protesters at Democratic town halls during the August recess.

A showdown between unions and grassroots conservative organizations could make for an August full of fireworks, with even more dysfunctional town hall meetings. The AFL-CIO is planning to target 50 "high priority districts," in addition to organizing telephone town hall gatherings.

Re. The Mad Hatter's urging that we Mudpuppies get involved in the Town Hall Meeting mess, we could take a leaf out of the book of People for the American Way.  Here is part of an email they sent today.

Quote
Progressives can't let themselves be out-organized on the health care issue and need to counter these lie-driven mobs. It's time for progressives to make their presence known and their voices heard. Tell your members of Congress not to be intimidated and to reject mob tactics.

    Here's what you can do:

       1. Email your congressional representatives if you have not already.

       2. Follow up your email with a phone call.

       3. Find a town hall event near you this recess and attend.

To read the entire email and all the efforts being made by other groups click here.

Please report back if you are involved in fighting back against the minority Mob.

Thanks to everyone for their input regarding showing our support for OBAMA and HealthCare...There are many activities planned, including some by the AFL-CIO.  All I can say is get the information regarding your local town hall meetings and gooooooo!

Patriotic Display...I think it would be wonderful if each of us could also do some sort of patriotic display the week of August 17th-22nd or even leave it up indefinitely beginning August 17th....maybe some red, white and blue lights, whether we could put patriotic items in a flowerbox, whatever we can put together at out homes or place of business.

Thanks so much...have a great day....

I was just reading some of the blog entries on Greta Van Susteren's site.  Here is one verbatim

This entry was on the site...

The thread title was, of all things ...BE HONEST

I sent an email to Mrs Van Susteren asking her how she could possibly condone this.  Please check this out for yourself and if so inclined, send her an email at....ontherecord@foxnews.com
