Alaskan Sisu is reflective of my Finnish roots - sisu is a strong willed Finnish gal...that would be me - strong and sensitive all wrapped into one package.

I grew up on a fishing boat in Southeast Alaska and have spent my life gathering and putting up seafood, meat and berries, etc., in the Alaskan tradition.  Alaskan women are known for being able to go from one extreme to another with just a quick change of clothes...casual, nice, fancy, outdoorsy - whatever.

I am retired and during the spring and summer months I can be found  working in my yard here in Juneau or out in Gustavus, Alaska.  We have a Cessna 172 that air taxis us all over the place for lots of adventures and gathering.  It's nothing for us to go take a flight any time of the year and have a picnic on the beach!  Alaska is one place where you can be in town one second and in the wilderness the next...poof!

I raise and breed golden retrievers to give away and believe me every puppy tells a story!  Lots of my friends and family have my goldens and sometimes I'll have as many of 12 or 14 in the yard.  It looks like a lion kingdom.

I worked in the Alaska legislature for D's and R's for over a decade and am definitely non-partisan and anti-Palin.  We have a huge family here in Juneau with relatives and friends spread throughout the State.

Yes we are a HUGE State, but technology has brought us closer....I guess that could be said about the lot of us mudpuppers too.
Oh yeah, and I love a good campfire anytime!
Take care now and best wishes to all.

Hello, thanks for the into...

what a wonderful life. From the city, to the lion ravaged yard  Grin, to legislative halls, to the highest of heights, to a quiet seaside picnic...
I hope you tell us many stories of your adventures!

Hi Sisu, welcome to the mudflats forum, where we talk, eat, drink and laugh together.  Sometimes vent and cry too.

12 - 14 goldens in a yard, now that would be a sight to see!  Love it!

Hi Sisu.  I live in Texas, so I know what it's like to live in a big state (yes, I know AK is bigger).  However, its a major trip from one end of Texas to the other, too long for even one day's pleasant drive.

I'm new to the forums; I just wanted to welcome you!

I'm just another refugee on this forum from Hurricane Sarah that never left...

 Welcome

Always thrilled to have another Alaskan join us. There are other mudpuppies up your way. I know because we met some of them in up there in May. All those goldens. How cool!  reindeer
