Tri-State Mudstock - DE, NJ, PA

We have some interest building in the idea of gathering together mudpuppies from Delaware and areas of New Jersey and Pennsylvania that are within striking distance of each other.
Anyone with ideas of who, where, when and how, this is the place to make yourselves heard.
I'm in upper Bucks County PA. I know we have a mudpuppy in Delaware and one in Chester PA. Being geographically challenged, I'm not sure where the pups from NJ actually are relatively speaking. I'm hoping to find out soon, yes?
Let's do it!

If the timing works out to be after Thanksgiving, we'll try to make it!

I'm in! I was so sad I couldn't go to the Mudstock in Pittsburgh - it would be great to meet some mudpuppies from around here.
Great suggestion, Forty Watt!

I am in, with the caviat that I work weekend nights and would need a couple weeks lead time to arrange for a night off. I am almost as far south as you can go and still be in Delaware, but am willing to drive 13N/I95 or take the ferry to NJ, depending on what is convenient for most. Chester is do-able, or thereabouts. There is always PHL lol. To give you an idea of distance, I am about 2 hours from the airport.

Has this idea died? Is everyone going to Sarah's book signing instead?
Come on pups, lets get the party started!

Okay, we are going to be out there the weekend of December 11-13. We're going out to Longwood Gardens near West Chester, PA. If there's any interest in this weekend, we can try to work something out. I know it's close to the holidays, so I will certainly understand if people can't manage anything.

How about if we combine a Mudstock with some time at Longwood Gardens? For people who have not been there before, it is the premier garden showplace in North America. Their Christmas display, which is what will be there on the December 11, weekend, is awesome, worth the trip, mudstock or not.

If spending time at Longwood doesn't work, then maybe someone around there knows where we could meet up. There is a cafe and a full restaurant in Longwood, but I don't think anything that would qualify as a private room.
Any interest?

Fine with me. The menus for the cafe and restaurant are on the website but pricy. I am fine with doing a Mudstock Garden tour, and I am sure there is something local where we could have lunch if the Cafe is not practical. The restaurant at the gardens is out of my reach. Perhaps Forty Watt will know of a local pub.

The restaurant is definitely pricey and I think requires reservations, at least on the day. We usually eat in the cafe. I seem to remember that the cafe is reasonable, though, probably in line with restaurants outside. It does cost money to get into Longwood, of course, though. I am not trying to lead here, so ideas from anyone else are more than welcome, particularly if someone is in that area.
We are going out to eastern PA on Thursday of that week, so if something else looks good to someone for Saturday and doesn't include Longwood Gardens, that's okay with us, too. We can be flexible from here.
Longwood, particularly for the Christmas program, would enchant any child, so it would be a nice family outing, too. The lights after dark are gorgeous! And since they have about four acres under glass, there's always a place to get warm if it's really cold outside.

I am going on the 12th, planning on futurexpat and spouse being there too. The Cafe will be fine with me. As far as I can tell all we need is a time to meet! I sincerely hope more people will attend, since Longwood is so lovely for Christmas, and is family friendly. Hope to see lots of mudpupppies there. Frieda

The tri-state mudstock is a go! December 12th at Longwood Gardens. Any one in the area please consider. It should be lovely, as Longwood is highly decorated for Christmas also too.

Count me in! Longwood Gardens is only about 20 minutes from my house!
Would you guys be interested in having me research a place nearby to meet other than the restaurants at Longwood? Longwood is gorgeous at this time of year and well-worth the visit, but I didn't know if there was anyone who didn't want to pay the admission fee but still wanted to join us at the Tri-State Mudstock. I'm also a bit worried about how crowded the cafe would be at this time of year on a Saturday. Are we doing a lunch thing?
Looking forward to meeting some Mudpuppies in person!!

Hi,
This sounds great. A restaurant outside would be fun, and a better idea than eating in the cafeteria in Longwood. Tantef and I are not from the area so we had no good way of choosing a restaurant outside. Hubby and I go out there from Pittsburgh fairly often just to go to Longwood, so we are loosely familiar with the area there, but not enough to choose a restaurant for a get together. I will PM you with my information, too, but this would be great.
I envy you, living only 20 minutes from Longwood!

Is there a time set for this? I live a couple hours away and I think I have a commitment on the morning of Dec. 12, but I'm toying with the idea of making it a day trip. Longwood Gardens sounds like a great destination and meeting up with mudpups is always worth a drive too!
