The following activities are now expressly PROHIBITED on both the Mudflats blog and Mudflats forums:

• Soliciting financial assistance from the Mudflats community (including but not limited to cash, debt settlement, bill payment, and services).
• Offering to provide any type of financial assistance to an individual.
• Arranging for the donation of cash and/or services to an individual.
• Arranging for the exchange of cash and/or services between individuals.

We want to make it extremely clear that this includes -

• The Mudflats blog
• The Mudflats blog comments area
• The Mudflats forums
• The Mudflats forum private messaging system
• The Mudflats live chat area

The following guidelines will also now be in place:

• Anyone who has information regarding any of the above activities is requested to report it immediately.
• Anyone who has suspicions or misgivings about any situation or member on Mudflats is requested to report it immediately.
• Anyone who receives a Private Message asking for money is requested to report that private message (click here for instructions on how to do this)

When you report something to us, anonymity is assured and your privacy will be protected.

Clearly the Mudflats team of moderators and administrators cannot and will not attempt to control what members do via private email accounts or other forms of communication.

However, for the good of our membership, we have an obligation to control what we allow on the blog and the forums, including via the private messaging system.

We do not want to outlaw generosity entirely.

The generosity and compassion found here is one of the best features of The Mudflats.

If at any time, people wish to collect money from mudpups for what they feel is a good reason, they should immediately approach the Admin team.

We respectfully request that forum members do not donate or loan any funds to anybody for any reason without contacting the Admins first.

If the Admin team determines it is a suitable reason to collect funds, it will be organized and administered by the Admins. 

This will be done to ensure that any donations or loans are made via appropriate channels, and so that our forum staff are able to do some checking things out prior to any donations or loans being made.

AT THIS CURRENT TIME we are about to announce an authorised fundraising drive for Rufffhouse which has been housing cats that belong to a member of the forums who recently passed away. The announcement will appear in this thread shortly.

Alice, Gertrude and Moochie's Most Excellent Adventure

Shortly after Mudpup Michael entered a hospital far from home, his three rescued cats were placed in the care of Rufffhouse, a companion pet sanctuary, where they were to remain until he was well and able to be reunited with them.  Many Mudpups promised Michael that no matter what happened, his cats would be safe, happy and together for the rest of their lives.  And they will be.

Shadow's Heart wants to give them a forever home with her and her companion pet, but that means somehow moving Michael's pets safely and with as little trauma as possible from Arizona to their forever home in South Dakota.  Plans are in the works to make that happen: http://www.themudflats.net/forum/index.php?topic=11323.msg138175#msg138175

Transportation will be by car to Las Vegas, then by air to Omaha, and then another car trip to South Dakota and their new home.  The costs are expected to easily exceed $600, including approx $100 for kennels, $100 for health certificates & vaccinations, $300 for airfare from LV to Nebraska, and a currently unknown amount for ground transportation to LV and from Omaha to SD.

If you can help with the ground transportation for the Omaha to SD leg, please message me.  If you would like to contribute to the costs, you can donate directly to Rufffhouse by paypal or check.  Please include a clear statement that the funds are for the cost of transporting Alice, Gertrude and Moochie to their new home.  You will find information on how to donate on the website:  http://rufffhouse.org/  If you do contribute, please message me to let me know.

Rufffhouse is a not-for profit organization.  Its name derives from Rescued Unwanted Furry Friends Foundation.

R.U.F.F.F. has rescued over 10,000+ companion animals, with over 9,800 being adopted since our beginning in January 2000!

We are an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization providing sanctuary to countless homeless and unwanted cats and dogs and pot bellied pigs. Most of our animals are looking for loving “forever” homes. Many of our guests will live out their natural lives at R.U.F.F.F. House, our 40+ acre sanctuary located in scenic Golden Valley, AZ. No pet is ever destroyed due to breed, age or infirmity, but will be loved and cared for.

UPDATE:  The cost of the kennels was covered by Waay, and an additional $550 has been contributed.  At this time, known costs are covered, plus a little extra.  Ground transportation costs are not yet solidified.  I will update this information as soon as I have more data.

Lani i have fifty dollars i want to contribute. i am sorry i have been a 'busted valise'. i am thinking it would be better to send money to Shadow for expenses like pet food and kitty bowls and stuff. what do you think?
also i would like to see Lani's post about their excellent adventure on the blog itself. i think perhaps inviting the blog readers to know what we are up to will invigorate the blog and thus the forum. the gods know we can use a little invigoratin'.

Bubs, we've got the finances covered for the Rufff House portion of the grand kittie adventure.  Waay is working out some complicated logistics, and other costs will probably come up for part of the trip.  So we're holding off on doing anything further at this time.  Hang on just a little longer, please.  There will be more news soon.  As for bringing over some of the blog folks, let's chat in the chat about that!
