Making A List, Checking It Twice

« on: October 28, 2009, 09:04:16 am »

Back by popular demand!

Mudflats Holiday Gift Swap.

This year's theme is homemade/handmade gifts.

This Swap is for sending and receiving a holiday gift to/from a secret swap buddy.  The theme is homemade/handmade gifts, but please note: the gift does not have to be made by you! Support your local small businesses, visit a farmer's market or a craft fair, or find something cool on the internet.  Just be sure the total cost of your gift is $10 or less.

Several members indicated a desire to do an ornament swap.  The Admins decided to make this swap as inclusive of all holiday traditions as possible, so the swap will not be limited to ornaments.  However, in many cases an ornament would be a perfectly appropriate thing to send and members should feel free to do that if they'd like.

We ask only three things -

- That you follow the instructions below regarding how/when to sign up.
- You must send a gift to your swap buddy.
- You must send it ON TIME.

In the past, some of our mudpuppies have signed up for the swaps, sent out their gifts/cards, and never got anything in return or are still waiting for things to arrive.  That is pretty upsetting to them, and to us who arranged the swaps.  This is not a take only operation - you have to give to receive in return - that is why they call it a swap.  Do not sign up unless you are happy and able to send your gift.

In previous swaps there have been people who could not participate because they missed the deadline to sign up.  Don't miss the November 15 deadline to sign up.

Even if you have participated in other swaps,  we DO NOT have your address, so make sure you follow the instructions and include it in your PM.

How To Sign Up -

You have until November 15, 2009 to sign up; this is a firm deadline.  We will be sending out your swap info as soon as possible after the deadline.

You must send a PM to Santa Claus with all of the following information to participate -

(I suggest you copy and paste this section right into your PM so you don't leave any part of it out)

Your Name -
Your Postal Address -
Your Contact Email Address -
If you are in the US and are willing to send internationally (if you are in another country other than the US and you sign up it will be assumed you are willing to send internationally)-

Click Here to send your PM to Santa Claus

DO NOT PM any of the Admins or moderators.  The reason we are asking you to PM Santa Claus is because Santa has a sparkling clean and empty PM Box.

There is no need to reply in this thread, doing so will not sign you up for the swap, you must send a pm to Santa Claus to be included.

Sending Your Gift -

Please choose a homemade or handmade gift that is appropriate.

Your gift MUST be in the mail by November 23, 2009 in order to allow it to arrive before the holidays.

If for some reason you must miss the deadline, please inform an Admin so we can let your swap buddy know.

Our advice is to get organized ahead of time - start shopping/crafting now!

When you receive your gift from your swap buddy come back to the thread and tell us about it!

Sent a PM, but was there supposed to be a link embedded in the message somewhere or were we just supposed to use the IM link under Santa's avatar?  That's what I did.

Thank you.  Shall make it easier for everyone else, esp. if they haven't had their morning coffee yet (I was looking around and looking around...not that I drink coffee, so that wouldn't have helped, but...)!

Yay!!  Holiday gift swap!!!   GREAT idea on the supporting local artists.  I like this theme of homemade by SOMEBODY cuz if it had to be done by me the poor mudpup receiving it would think Santa was very mean.

We have our Indie Market happening soon.  Can't wait to go browsing.  I already have some ideas but now I'm newly inspired.     reindeer

When my son was little we always celebrated the Day the three Kings to catch up
on what didnt get done for the 25th...
and mom used to give up pictures from the Sears or 'Monkey Ward' catalog of the
gift that didnt get to northern WIsconsin on time.
So being late is genetic here...am trying to mend my ways..

Count me in! I'm signed up - and ready to find something made by someone other than me as I do not create wonderful things like other do - but I know where to find such things! This will be fun!  c013

Should I sign up again? or do I risk getting 2 swap buddies? (hmm..that wouldn't be so bad)
sorry to make you go through them to check-   Tongue

Don't worry about asking us to check - Santa is always glad to do small favors for mudpuppies! Wink

boodog - there's no message from you in my inbox.

InterestedPerson - I do have a message from you.

If in doubt, go ahead and ask, or send again.  There's no danger of you being assigned to more than one swap partner unless you ask for it!

Happy Craft hunting!

Dear Santa -

Thank you for offering to help.   I can't seem to find my house keys or my coupon organizer.   Thank in advance.  You're the best!

BuffaloGal

PS - I've been good this year. Ask Justa. She'll confirm.
